i hope you didn't have to try hard for that b because a b in maths is easy and the standard is severely dropping because the country is lacking mathematicians and is below the average maths ability in the world and foundation papers are a joke(just over 50%=C) and a b is only just above that level but it would have to be obtained on the higher tier making it slightly more difficult but i did get 79/80 for unit 1 in Y9 and didn't decide to revise and i don't think i will have to revise for unit 2,this summer either. On TSR,you are meant to have an A+ in English and Maths so i am confused slightly.

This is coming from the guy who couldn't work out the average in a frequency distribution. People are of different levels mate, and you are definitely not one to comment on other people's mathematical abilities.

BTECs can get you into college and are fully equivalent to the some many GCSEs-the college or university you go to must be anti-btec or something.Other equivalents like OCR Nationals are classed as A*s,in Birmingham, where as they are only normally counted as A*/A.It says on my local colleges website that you can get in with a diploma and many people i know go on specialist diplomas out of school, during school because they know the worth of BTECs and vocational equivalents because they actually prepare you for working life and although they don't exactly test academic prowess-they show you have the skills needed for certain jobs and can very specific to certain career paths eg.horse care btec=vet and vets will be looking for this sort of experience that isn't usually offered in GCSEs.BTECs are fully equivalent to GCSEs don't let anyone tell you otherwise because you can apply to different colleges and even oxford accept level 3 BTECs-proving the quality of the course.

Level 3 BTECS are accepted. Level 2 BTECs are worthless, stop dreaming as so many people have told you this! Either get over it or stop posting and tell other people other than those on TSR.
I regret taking health and social care BTEC and GCSE Resistant Materials.
They were both useless for me and I didn't get a choice because I was I'll on the day that our choices had to be handed in :frown:
I would have liked to take triple science and French

I'm in year eleven, and pretty much everyone I know regrets at least one of their subjects if not all. So, I'm just curious to know if any of you do/did.

Well I'm a different generation altogether and in my day I did a course called 'technical drawing'. I was completely awful at it and in any case it all became useless pretty much with the advent of computers.

Waste of time for me.

You were backed up by an idiot, who I then had to message and explain to him how you were both wrong and then he accepted it when I showed him a link to an actual maths website!!! So you get your facts right mate.

Double Award GCSE ICT. Is two actual GCSEs, not a BTEC or anything like that, but most colleges and universities and colleges only accept it as one. Some don't even accept it at all :frown:. Has really buggered up my chances in medicine. :frown:

Shouldn't have taken art, took too much time and I got a B in the end (5A*s 5As and a B) so everyone always asks what was the B in -.-

Yes and no.

My GCSE options are GCSE PE, History, Geology & Geography. The teachers don't have much faith in me so they did a very good job of persuading me to change a few of the options I had intently taken. I would have liked to have taken Triple Science but I had been told to change this as it "didn't suit me" as I was in bottom set at key stage three. :frown: I suppose they were right though; I'm not coping too well with the double award so I would have been in a pickle if I did take it up as a GCSE.

I wish I took geography. However it was in the same option block as PE which I also wanted to do (would have rathered done PE). So its not as if I regret it because I made the right decision, however I would have liked geography to be in a different option box so I could have done both subjects.

Also, I should have tried harder in Biology as I only got a C grade which prevented me studying it at A Level.

On the same boat but with history instead of geography. I would've liked to take history but I didn't feel I knew how I'd do in it and PE seemed/was actually a good choice.

French/Spanish. Although I took it and had good grades, I learnt very little, and I doubt I could have a very simple conversation with anyone in those languages, but possibly worthwhile for those intending on doing the language at a higher level
Business Studies...I just don't like it, it gets quite tedious.
Textiles. In my school we had to choose at least one technology subject which was stupid, i would have much rather took another subject like a language to go with history and psychology
Not a single subject. Not even German.
Shouldn't have done history - took massive effort to get a B and it dragged everything else down a bit. I also wish I didn't have to do English Lit... it was also a massive waste of time. Saying that though, I don't know what I would have taken in their place.
I chose Art and influenced by my parents, I changed it for a more academic subject, Latin. But, I wasn't too sure about Art in the first place however, truly regret Latin. I think I'd have preferred RS
YES! I really regret taking Business Studies... At the time, my teacher told us how academic it was seen to be by Universities (how gullible can I be!). I also found it fun and easy in Yr 9, therefore I took it.
At GCSE, it's awful. It's boring. It's so easy - it just requires common sense.
Instead I'd have taken either Triple Science (emphasised to me by the fact I got an A* in the January exam!) or electronics.
