I called my our dog Paddy. He's an Irish Setter so my parents wanted to give him an Irish name and said I could choose out of Paddy, Murphy and Seamus. I didn't like the alternatives, so Paddy it was.
My parents got another dog while I was at a friend's birthday party just under three years later. It had been named Murphy by the time I got home!

The big, beefy, white chi; Brian Griffin. Spitting imagine of Brian from Family Guy, I swear. The little girly black one; Little Boy. The incredibly dumb chi; Elle. Sheepdog: Zak Cat; Pusscat (I am incredibly creative)
Plan on getting chipmunks when I have the space, and I am honestly going to call them Chip 'n' Dale.
I have 2 Russian dwarf hamsters called Jet and Bubba :P And a cat called Frodo (except we never named him, he was rescued) and we used to have a persian called Dutchess
My cat's name is Cookie We got him when he was a kitten and he's 3 now. He's a tabby and he's the cutest thing in the world. Don't have a clue why we called him Cookie! It just suited him
Our old dog was called Harry, named after Harrier Jump Jets which are capable of short/vertical take-offs. This is because as a Jack Russell he could jump straight up a few feet high from standstill.
A little while after Harry passed away, we got Fred, another Jack Russell. After we got him, we were arguing about what to call him, we couldn't agree on anything and in the end we said Fred as a joke and it stuck.
I think whatever you call your pet there will always be a million different nicknames - Freddie is often called Mr. Freddington or Fed-Fed, Harry got the nicknames Haribo, Hazzerbajan and Bubs. Saying them in public by accident is often embarrassing
I have a cat called Charlie, and a tortoise called George.
We were originally told that Charlie was a boy - went to get her neutered and well... Discovered she was a girl. She's lucky, because we were originally going to use Harry as a name. At least Charlie can be feminine (sort of). She actually gets called Charles a lot by me...
