Complete Scottish Highers, then do A levels?

Would it be possible to do Scottish highers and achieve poor grades eg, AAABB. Then during a year do 3 A levels and try get 3 A's?
What would a medical school think when looking at this? Would this be possible?

You would still have a shot with AAABB. Dundee will definitely consider you as will Aberdeen (though they state AAAAB). There are a few people in my year with AAABB and at least one with AABBB (had a monstrous AH conditional to meet though)
