I already made one other one. But lets use this one. How is ur physics revision going. I just started physics today

I haven't done much revision yet, but will get cracking soon. I only have this exam before the half term now so plenty of time to focus on it in school during any free periods and outside of school too.

I'm doing this exam too, I've only just started revising because of chemistry

What sort of questions are liable to pop up in Q1? (the pre-release section)
This is one of 5 exams for me next week, and, to be honest, it's not my priority- there's many other subjects which I need to focus on. I have notes on the entire unit, although I need to review them, and actually learn the content!!!

I've got spanish and classics tomorrow and then english lit and classics next week as well as p7, I'm royally screwed... not to mention my timetable the week after half term...

Well, these are the questions that my physics teacher gave me:

How big was the asteroid that struck mexico?
How much basalt lava was spewed out by the volcanic eruptions known as the Deccan traps?
Why do scientists now favour the asteroid theory over the supervolcano explaination?
What is the importance of the world wide layer of irdium?
What effect would global winter have on plants and animals?
What was the energy change when the asteroid struck the earth?
Why is a tsunami so dangerous?
why do scientists use computer models?
How long ago did the dinosaurs die out?
What is the 'shocked quartz'?
How does shocked quartz provide evidence of an asteroid collision?

Hope it helps

Also has someone made a b7 one?

Lol I haven't done anything for it yet. Just need to go over some stuff about the death of stars

I have Physics, Business Studies and FSMQ all on same day.
I finished C2 and Chemistry today. Phew!

Atleast AS Maths is out of the way! Time to focus on thsoe 3. After those 3 exams all on same day, i'm free cool with just History, geogrpahy and Biology left!!!:biggrin:

I havn't started Physics yet, but will do tomorrow at school up until Saturaday evening where I will start Business Studies.

FSMQ I will do some revision, isn't too hard, everything is easy but the Mechnics is a tad challenging for me :frown: I understand C1, C2, Linear Programming and Stats, however..the Mechanics IS a problem.

But the grade wouldn't be wholey important, so i will risk losing marks on the mechnics, still confident for an A though :P

As for Physics, I LOST MY BOOK!
Luckily I found resources online....phew!

I have the same things, how are you going about revising Additional maths & Business? Please help me
Reply 13
Hey mate,

I am planning to revise FSMQ through exam papers + notes. Pick through the paper and see what I don't know then learn.

As for Business, thats just easy and self explanatory. I would say 40% of that course is made up of cash flow diagrams, net profit, gross profit, break even points etc... basic maths.

Although I would get some paper and take down some notes about the content to revise.

Thank you!! Also can you send me your online resources for P7 please?
Anyone want physics revision cards i made.
Here is the Revision cards on P7 for everyone. Hope this helps.:colondollar: Rep me.

Ideas in Context Questions

1.
a. Explain what is meant by “peer review”. (1)
b. Explain why scientific theories are subject to peer review. (1)

2.
a. What is an asteroid? (1)
b. Describe the orbit of a typical asteroid. (2)
c. Give two differences between asteroids and comets. (2)

3. Explain how a “global winter” could result in mass extinction. (3)

4. Describe how volcanic eruptions can result in acid rain. (3)

5. Suggest two benefits of international and multidisciplinary collaboration (2)
in scientific research projects like this one.

6. Describe two pieces of evidence that support the theory that a large asteroid
collided with Earth 65 million years ago. (2)

7.
a. Describe the trend shown in the graph. (2)
b. Use the graph to explain how to predict the frequency of impact
by an asteroid 3km in diameter. (1)

8. Suggest three reasons why predicting asteroid impacts is very difficult. (3)

9. Suggest a way that scientists could find out if an asteroid was on a
collision-course with Earth. Include any equipment they would need. (4)

My Answers:
1.
a. The work is sent to other specialists in the same area who comment on the quality of the work before it is published.
b. To make sure the work is valid.

2.
a. A lump of rock
b. Orbits the Sun, between Mars and Jupiter
c. Asteroids are rock, comets are ice
Asteroid orbits are nearly circular, comet orbits are very elongated and go much further from the Sun

3. Not enough sunlight so plants die, herbivores starve and die, carnivores starve and die

4. Eruption releases sulfur dioxide, dissolves in water in the atmosphere, make s rain acidic

5. Breadth of expertise, sharing of expense

6. Iridium layer all around the world, shocked quartz near impact site

7.
a. As minimum asteroid diameter increases, average time between impacts increases.
The bigger the asteroid, the more the time interval increases.

b. 1.0 million years apart (plus suitable explanation of how to find this)

8. Asteroids are very small, very far away and moving very fast so they are hard to see and track.

9. Use telescopes to identify asteroids
Observe over a suitable time period to find their likely trajectory
Use a computer to predict whether or not they will cross Earth’s orbit.
These are more files which might be helpful for the pre-release. If it asks for password press read only.
Oooh, thank you ^_^
