Thanks for your response pineapple. I think I probably am over thinking it to be honest! My title is: "From your time in school, analyse a teaching session you have observed that you think was particularly effective." it's hard to chose a session as there were so many good ones and it's hard to know what's going to give you the best leads into all the points you need to cover.

I just hope I can get an interview as I'm much better in those situations, but then that 7-10 wait will be a killer!

Thanks for all your help x

Thats the same as what we got, I found it hard to pick a session too but i went with a session that was interactive, fun and which also included me guiding a group through an activity. I think just pick what you think you can analyse and talk about through your presentation and which shows off some of your skills. I found picking a session was the hardest part lol. I know how you feel the 7-10 day wait is a killer but when i had to wait i had 2 bank holiday days which they said may make the waiting time longer, but luckily i heard back within 7 days  Good luck!

Well I think it went ok yesterday, really hard to tell whether I impressed them or not as they were really nice to everyone, even the people who didn't make the afternoon. Thanks for all your help and tips again - hopefully see you in september! x

How exciting! Does it mention if we get half terms off? I'm really confused as 2 hours after heard about course got offered a really good job which financially would be much more practical - so have a head v's heart dilema! lol xx

It didnt mention much just what we need to do to prepare ourselves for the course and that we'll hear more nearer the time and we have our first placement i think in week 5 of the uni term, so thats the end of sept i think. Eeek it depends on what you want more really, you dont want to do it without thinking about it, especially since you may regret not taking what you really want. Then again it does depend on your situation really.

It's a fantastic University, I know a few people who are studying there and they love it. It's not well known because it specialises in educational studies (i think) and it's over shadowed by the University of Lincoln just down the hill.

That's... pretty ironic.

Thanks, I'm erring towards the teaching at the moment as it will take a very long time for meto get up to that salary in teaching but it's what I want to do. I've always been so practical and just feel its time for me! Have you done your occ health clearance yet? If so did it take long? I got my offer letter yesterday the suggested areas of preparation for me included phonics, extending school experience, knowledge of schools and educational issues and more reflection and evaluation of experiences. Doubt I'll get chance to do more experience before end of term but will def spend some time on the other stuff. What have you got planned before we start?x

If it is what you want to do then you should do it  I filled in a health declaration form which i signed and gave to them and they didnt say about doing anything else. I went up to lincoln and sorted out my CRB stuff so just waiting for that to come in the post. They wanted me to brush up on my knowledge of educational issues and go through the key stages maths so my knowledge for that is current. I got a form through the post that i have to fill out and they gave a load of websites i need to read before i start and recommendations etc. There is a lot to read so i'm going to have to get started soon. Other then that i dont know how else to prepare, ive done my experiences and i have a lot going on this summer before uni starts so im actually having to juggle a lot of things and i need to let work know about dropping my hours to just a saturday every week.

I'm really panicking about the health clearance as don't want to hand my notice in until it's back. I have had a couple of health issues over the past year but really don't think they affect my ability to teach so hopefully shouldn't be a problem but cants be sure as there seems to be no guidance. Have just posted it off so we will see! I printed the one off the website as I havent received anything from bg other than saying I have to do one. Hope that's the right one. Good to hear someone else is going to work a bit though the course, they told me it wasn't possible but I'm going to have to get an evening or weekend job. I'll look forward to getting that list of stuff to read then! Lol xx

I heard that too and i dont want to let my job go since i know its hard to currently get a job and i dont know whether i'll get a teaching post after the PGCE, plus extra money will definately come in handy even if it isnt much lol. I dont want to give up my job cos they are quite understanding about personal circumstances and stuff so i know they are ok. I hope i can manage it though, if i need to i suppose i will have to give it up but im hoping it'll be ok since im dedicating sunday to friday to the PGCE and i have the saturday to work. They do take time to send stuff out so i dont know but they sent out the health form to me to take into the interview so thats the only one ive done. I just hope its right lol x

I'm sure if we are organised with our time it should be managable. I know a girl who did the course and she managed to give herself 1 day a week off, its just we will be spending that day off working! I've just spoke to admissions and they said the OH takes around 4 weeks! I explained my situation but they said they have no contact details for them other than the PO Box address and its very rare anyone gets turned down. Did manage to speak to a tutor though who reassured me that they have taken people in the past with similar conditions to me, so I hope it won't be a problem but still doesn't help me with what to do about my notice or this other job I've been offered. x

To be honest thinking about what you've said i dont think you'll get turned down if its actually quite rare. I suppose it depends on how much notice you need to give them about not taking/leaving your job. Im not planning on telling work til july so they have enough notice to cover my hours but also so i can work til then. I think it should be manageable. I know for the first placement im going to be full of nerves and worried im not doing it right lol but once we start we should be fine x

Yeah I'm sure we will be fine once we get in the swing of it, I'm sure they wouldn't have let us on if they didn't see potential in us  I've decided to turn the job down as it was always a back up in case didn't get on but it was very tempting and I'm just going to think positive about the oh. Actually starting to get really excited now I've made my mind up. Just wish I had have taken notes during the intro they did, is it 3 or 4 days in uni when not on placement? And can you remember when and how long the placements are throughout the year? What job do you do? Think I'm going to look in a bar or restaurant or shop nearer the time. Xx

Ive still got the part time retail job i had when i was at uni, i was one of the mature students at uni lol and i graduated last year so stuck with my part time job in a popular supermarket. Ive been looking for full time job whilst applying for the PGCE just in case i didnt get in but full time jobs are thin around here unless you have loads of experience in that job area so stuck with my part time one. I didnt want to give it up unless i have to. I dont have a glamorous job and its kinda embarassing when people have been asking me what i'm doing now i graduated cos i'm working part time in a supermarket with a degree lol. What job do you do? I think they said we are in uni one day a week, but im not sure if thats just when on placement. I kinda wish i did make notes i kinda got a little happy when they said we could get placements nearer to home because i dont want to move out - too expensive. I find in retail if you want a part time job over the winter its best to start looking and applying from August because students will be going home and they tend to advertise quite early. Unfortunately (or fortunately whatever way you want to look at it lol) i've had lots of experience in applying for retail jobs, its a nightmare but they tend to be flexible around studies. x

You shouldn't be embarrassed hun, at least your making the effort to earn money. I'm a HR Manager at the moment, going back to living on student loan is going to be a very big shock after 5 years! lol. I put my application in last night for the finance so hopefully should all be in place, I assume BG organise the bursary. What degree did you do? Really want to find out about the half terms as we need to book our flights to go see my father in law but I don't want to call again else they will think I'm stalking them! lol Think I will start looking in August then, there are a few around at the moment but I really don't want to be working 2 jobs. xx

True i just couldn't sit around doing nothing all day, i find it hard just working part time with all the free time i've got lol. I applied for student finance in April and they STILL havent assessed it, i might give them a couple more days and then ring them middle of next week to see whats happening. I know, im dreading living on the student loan again, it was awful the first time round lol but then again i was living away from home but im back living with my parents since i graduated so its not too bad. I did a business management degree, what about you? And congrats i knew it wouldn't be a problem  x

That's no good. They sent me an email saying my offer is ready but when I log on it just looks like it did before, telling me what I might be entitled to. Just hope BG do sort the bursary and you do get it as well as the loan as couldn't even pay my mortgage with the loan!
I did Law degree and also did a post graduate diploma in HRM, so all being well this will be my third graduation - my husband is very pleased with all the free trips to the Cathedral that I keep giving him! lol
Thank you - its such a relief cause I know my CRB etc will be fine. Just want it to be hear now, feels ages away. x
