The Student Room Group

Everyone fallen out = no friends

Got back from uni couple weeks back and everyones fallen out or distanced leaving me with a grand total of about two friends. Never been in this position before so have no idea what to do or how to go about making new friends.

I know people will say to get involved in activities and I already am it's just the people I meet are more acquaintances than close friends.

Spent the last month or so restless and at home doing sweet f.a. Don't think I could put up with this much longer but have no idea how to make friends appear out of thin air.

Go to the pub with acquaintances, then invite them to things. Only thing I can think of, I have no friends besides one friendship group so I understand how you feel.

With the acquaintances, do you have anything in common with them? E.g. say they were in your chem class and you got on with them but just didn't go out together, you could text them and say lets go and have a talk at the pub or something? Or have a big night out or something, after that you can get talking to them and make more friends.

The acquaintances are all part of their own close knit circles, seems everyone is but mine has just imploded

Where are you guys from? Its unlikely but if we're somewhat close we could go on a night out...it doesnt directly solve the problem of making more uni friends but it could help.

Only two? Try having only one (whenever i see them), and at most times of the year none like myself. Close friends are hard to come by as they are actually friends in the meaning of the word and not acquaintances or backstabbers masquerading as your friends. You most likely (though it can happen) wont meet them by a chance meeting in a club or something like that, but probably develop a friendship with someone over a prolonged duration such as at work or uni or some other club that actually lasts maybe a few months? Or try digging out some past friends from your schooldays on Facebook to beat the boredom and so you wont be doing sweet f.a. Well that's what I think anyway

I'm a proud anti-social outcast so i'm not too clued up on the socialising business
