Applications only considered if local/in commute distance?

Does anyone know if applications are screened based on your adress on your CV?

For example if you are up north and applying to jobs in london will they ignore CV?

I doubt it, unless the position requires local knowledge.

Depends, if it was a training contract in a law firm they would like to see some local connection so that they can have some comfort that you won't leave the second you qualify to return from whence you came. I couldn't speak for any other sector though, although it seems this is likely a concern in most similar roles.

If it's for a professional job, then the employer won't care, presuming you are prepared to move for the job.

If it is for a casual/part-time/unskilled job, then mention in your covering letter that you will be relocating anyway.

Broadly, employers expect you to have considered travel and costs and not to apply if either of those is an issue.
