How do you 'let go'?

Ex bf and I finished a few days ago; this was the 2nd time of trying and hey ho, it still didn't work. I now want to get on with my life, and move on. I want to let go, but I just don't know how to. I have removed his number from my phone, blocked his number from Whatsapp, although I did save the conversation, incase he tries to make up stories and etc. I have deleted all pictures, apart from kept 2 of his dog, as the dog is adorable. I have deactivated my facebook, purely because he's still on it, but also I had enough of it anyway.

Is there anything else I can do to 'let go'?
Seems a lot like you're forcing yoursel f to forget him. Just continue your life, fill your life with something positive and he'll fade.

It is horribly hard, but give yourself time. It's only been 2 days, you can't let go in 2 days! Don't delete too many things too quickly or you might regret it later. Don't not use FB because of him, just set it so that you can't see his updates (you can do this by hovering over a post of his, clicking the downwards pointing arrow in the RHS of the post, then clicking 'unfollow posts from x' then it won't come up on your news feed. Don't stop using something because of him, or you might miss out or make it worse when you want to use it again.

Keep yourself busy, take up something new and give yourself time to get over it.

He's constantly on my mind, and I just want to rid him! We finished almost a week ago. Ok I am probably asking too much, but I just want to stop thinking about him, and the situation. The pictures I've deleted are pictures which really aren't necessary, and I don't particularly want to gawp at his body anymore, for example, all the time lol

The facebook thing I already did as he was kinda cheating on me (chatting up other women on FB), and I could see it all on my newwsfeed . But that aside, I was getting fed up of fb anyway because it's the same individuals moaning everyday lol.

I guess I am just going to have to busy myself, and hope he fades very quickly from my memory.
keeping yourself busy and having a lot of you time and treating yourself is the best thing. maybe take up a new hobby or spend time with your friends? it always takes time, but you'll get there xx

2 days is such a short space of time to be able to switch of thoughts about someone you loved. No one can tell you how to get over someone, don't think anyone knows how too. 'Time is the best healer' and in time you will learn to accept that you tried and it just didn't work out.

Best thing to do is keep your chin up, your head held high and keep telling yourself we gave it a go.

We finished a week ago - I just thought I could get over him quick as it didn't really last that long - 1 week! But as of tomorrow, I will be making myself busy, and hoping that it'll help me.

Time I guess definitely is the best and only healer!

I dont mean to scare you, but my relationship ended 7 weeks ago, and im still despairing. I have been through it before this too, and i can honestly say that i wasn't actually happy or over it until i found someone better a few months later.
Now that this "someone better" has ended it too, im back to square one again.

Why don't you just Unsubscribe from him on facebook. That way he's still on your facebook if you ever wanted to see how's he's doing and you can still talk to friends on there etc. You won't see any of his updates unless you specifically go on his page.

I hope you're getting on ok. Getting over someone hurts, but you need to realise that it didn't work for a reason and you need to move on.

It's been 2 weeks, and I am doing pretty good. I do think of him at times, but then I think what an utter douchebag he was and im well rid. Sorry to hear you're back to sq. one, but it will get easier, I am sure of it.

Girl, I am well over it. Ok I tell a lil white lie; I still do think about him, what he's up to and how he's doing, but I don't make any contact with him whatsoever. I reactivated my FB after a few days peace and quiet, and I have unsubscribed from him, and made him 'Restricted' (really I should just delete him lol), but I am moving on with my life, and waiting for someone better to come along. I come to realise he was in fact a complete and utter waste of space who wouldn't know how to treat a woman right if it slapped him in the face! He's a very selfish individual, and quite frankly I don't want to be with someone like that, who constantly thinks about himself, sod that! So although we finished on bad terms (ish), it was for the best.
Tell him you'll never let go, then push him into the freezing cold ocean and float safely over to the life boats.

To add insult to injury, i poured my heart out to her, told her how i felt and that if she is "truly happy with her new man, i have to accept that, and if she could honestly imagine a life without me, then fair enough". Her response? To say "i dont know what to say" and change her fb status to "in a relationship" about 12 hours later. Some people just shouldnt be in your life.
If it makes you feel better, the first love i was on about earlier, i was with for 4 years, lived with her. She dumped me for a guy she worked with. That was the worst thing i have ever ever been through. But, my now recent ex came along. Suddenly the world was good again!! Other people will & do come along, i didnt think it would ever happen (and right now im thinking the same, again...), but it does. And thats what i keep telling myself now. Be strong!
I'll give the same advice you hear everywhere else;
Hang out with friends, they're incredible at this point.
Go out, have a drink. You might have heard the saying "a drunk mind speaks a sober heart"? Believe it! When im out with my mates having a good time, she doesn't cross my mind. Ok i then have to deal with waking up broken hearted and hungover, but meh, its worth it!!
Keep busy, i have a new job with great prospects, half way through a masters degree, and hit the gym 3 or 4 times a week. It works.
You will think about your ex a lot, i cant deny that, but, follow the above, and before you know it, you'll be happy again.
If only i could practice what i preach sometimes.

Thank you for the advice.

I went out a few weeks ago, and I got a lil drunk and I gotta admit, I did completely forget about him, until I woke up the following morning with a slight hangover and that broken hearted feeling, but I did get over it pretty quickly.

As of next week, I am going to get myself 'out there' a lot more; joining a gym as my usual hobby finishes for summer, taking up salsa and pole dancing in the evenings, and just going to try and socialise with my friends a lot more.

I do hope you find happiness again, and you're able to get over your hurt; it's not going to be easy, but you will get there.
Keep yourself as occupied as you can.
