I'd suggest that they are at the LGA Annual Conference, and busy with stuff there.

By the way, congratulations to people already offered positions!

Indeed! Unfortunately, I'm not one of them :frown:. I got a "we regret..." email from Sadie Kerr today. If you're trying to contact people while Ami's away, try the main [email protected] - that's where my email came from.

Good luck, all.

Hey everyone - good luck for everyone with interviews and congratulations to those who have had offers. I was lucky enough to get an offer from Brent - my first choice too - so pretty over the moon. Was wondering who else from that interview got an offer, this is just me being nosy and wanting to know who im starting with

Very well done  I have my first choice interview coming up next week so I hope I get it too! Was there more than one place on offer then? How many people did they interview if so? Thanks .

Brent offered 3 places - and there were 8 at the interview. I think they had better odds that some of the others though. a lot are only offering 2.

For those who think they've missed out with Surrey CC, no decision has yet been taken. According to Ami, expect to hear by wednesday at the latest. Good luck!

At my first interview, there were two places and only six people were interviewed. Seems there tends to be quite good odds. Hope that encourages everyone! Good luck!

Guessing that everyone is probably suitable so they just pick who they like best.

All the interviews are over now, right? How's everyone doing?

Had an interview at Hammersmith and Fulham last Thursday, they're making us wait ten days! Torture.

Hi,

I've only just registered on this. I got two offers, from Surrey and Crawley, and took Surrey. Would be really interested to hear who I'll be working with at Surrey if anyone on here is?

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting to hear back.
I'll be at Surrey too! I was so impressed with them at the interview day so I was really happy to get the offer.
Nice to know someone else who'll be there
I just go a phonecall from Ami saying that Waltham Forest have offered me a job - YES!!!.
Congrats to everyone who's been offered a job...people who were unsuccessful, what are your next steps?

Both of my interviews were in the last week of the interview period and in both cases the large majority of the people there would have been unsuccessful (12 applicants for 3 places, for example), so I'm guessing there's actually quite a lot of people who haven't been offered places? So much for the email telling us we were all 'successful' and this stage was, though a bit competitive, more about 'best fit'! (Not that I'm bitter/heartbroken or anything!) I'd be interested to know exactly what percentage of the people offered interviews were actually given jobs. Have emailed Ami on the off chance that some councils haven't filled all their places, but haven't had a reply yet and not really expecting one!

Had my heart set on this programme, so sad to get to the very final stage and then no further!
Going to be at Surrey too! I think they offered 5 places in the end!

Sorry to hear that you didn't get a place :frown: I think it was essentially a case that half of the final 130 got jobs and the other half didn't. It was still extremely competitive even though we had all already beaten off so many people and it is really disheartening when you get so close only to be told you won't have a job at the end of it. If it is any consolation it took me two years of trying to get onto a graduate scheme and I have gotten to the final stage of a couple in the past only to be told I hadn't got a job at the end of it. Just keep trying you did brilliant to get to the final stage and just take what you have learned (get feedback from the LGA) and push on.
Hi all,

I was planning to apply for this scheme last year but things happened that meant I couldn't, unfortunately.

I'm thinking of applying this year and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it's anything like the Civil Service Graduate Fast Scheme? I was unsuccessful on that last year and am a bit scared the NGDP one is going to be similar, tbh! If it's different, could anyone give me a brief breakdown of what's involved in the application process?

Cheers
Steve

Don't rule out applying directly for local government jobs that come up such as trainee corporate policy officer or something like that. You can still be fast tracked in a job like that. Admittedly not many graduate jobs are coming up at the moment. If you've got a specialist degree you might be able to get a trainee post for one of the local government professions. Good luck!

Has anyone heard anything from Ami or the council they had an offer from since accepting it? I'm really keen to know some details and start planning! Thanks.
Has anyone received contracts or know when they are starting?
Apparently the national induction is the 22nd-25th October.

I havent heard anything from Ami since getting the offer.
