Haha, that's because its 'mummy porn'! Not. It's just that older women who wouldn't read this usually because its 'porn' have sort of been given the licence to do so by the fact that its so popular, so they all went wild for it. Most girls/women I know have or are in the process of reading it.

Wow. Why would be against masturbation o.o . I suppose tis odd that she reads the book then, but some people read it because they wanna know what the hype Is about, like me.

Allsoooooo, you mean me play FIFA, for porn?

Wouldn't surprise me if that's why she's reading it, because everyone else is.

That's a challenge? I meant that playing FIFA was a missing step to fitting in with the lads - but hey, if you can find pornographic FIFA then congrats.

Seriously girls, are most guys so poor in bed / in general that you find a fantasy character so appealing?

Potential tips for lads then?

Id certainly say so.
Have you actually read it or heard it being read? It's an insult to literature and the English language. What a load of useless crap.

If you want to learn to be a manipulative, abusive stalker then yeah, it's great. For the sex bits, maybe some useful ideas, but it would all depend on a)having a girlfriend who's into that (not one you can emotionally blackmail into it like Christian) and b)having a girlfriend who can have multiple earth-shattering orgasms every time she looks at you. Most women are not like this, so you'll have to try a bit harder.
It's just a bit of escapism, people need to chill out.

It seems to be popular with the older generation more than the demographic it's written for. Mums especially seem to like it, because it's kinky and exciting for them. The only younger people who seem to enjoy it are ones who have little to no idea about literature at all. It's appallingly written and the story is just the same rehashed love triangle with a whole lot of erotica thrown in.

so its twilight minus the sparkly vampires and plus the porn?

I've read it and it really does feel like the fanfiction that it used to be. There is an awful lot of sex in it to and some of its not really on the normal side, also the story's awful and its badly written I honestly don't know how it got published. Anyway if you want to read it go ahead.

people are still asking that about Twilight and eragon

I'm seriously struggling to find the appealof christian grey! Self absorbed, beats ana to a pulp and wants a contract signed before sex... Is this seriously what girls want in a guy?!

He does? I have only read the first one, where he states he doesn't want to leave her black and blue from the 'punishments'. Is he violent in the next two books? And she also hasn't signed the contract by the end of the first book.. :P have you properly read them?

Haha, no. I'm about 1/2 of the way through the first one. But that just seems to be the impression I'm getting so far. He just seems a boring creep to me so far.

Tbh I bought it just to see what all the fuss was about; and I'm only wanting to read the next two as they go further into Christian's background (I'm interested to know what all these deep psychological issues he possesses are, it better be something good!).
I really do think that Christian Grey should be older than what is in the book. I don't know why but when I read it, I thought of Hugh Laurie. But not Hugh Laurie as he is, Hugh Laurie in character of House.
So yes, House should be Christian Grey.

Thought that the book had an interesting story, just can't handle how badly written it is. I can't take another 'Christian please'. It just doesn't paint a sexy image in my head.

I don't understand why pornography is now fine to read in public.

:sigh:

I've read bits of this book. It's not even soft-core it's blatant pornography.
I find it weird how I picture Hugo from made in chelsea as Christian... I need another mental image lol

No, never. Hugh Laurie is just way too cool and awesome to be associated with an manipulative creep like Christian Grey.
