Anyone who's been in the YouTube comments for more than 5 seconds has seen more severe insults and threats than this. Heck, malicious stuff is posted anywhere on the Internet all the time. But because an Olympic athlete was the recipient, well, the self-righteous Twitter army (along with the media) got their panties in a bunch and decided to "retweet" like their lives depended on it to track down some loud-mouthed Dorset teen who, while offensize and inexcusably rude, was ultimately harmless. If, as people are saying, the kid was taunting other users for months with death threats and whatnot, this serves to illustrate my point even more--nothing happened until he went after the wrong person.
