To be truthful, I've been guilty (and I am sure others have too) of saying 'Wahabi this' and 'Wahabi that' without knowing precisely what Wahab's teachings, thoughts and beliefs were... would you be able to summarise them sis?

IBN Abdul Wahab May Allah bless his soul was a diamond of Islam. Remembered today for his excellent work. In terms of writing, he is the author of Usool a thalatha, kitabut Tawheed, kashft ash shubuhat and more amazing books. SubhanAllah they are so popular and sholars always recommend them. He was also known for always spreading the message of la ilaha illAllah. He rejected all innovation and evil, especially those worshippers of the graves. If I'm not mistaken, he is responsible for making Saudi become a 'strict' country where the sharia is well practiced; but I might be wrong. Like most scholars; he was hated and abused, treated unfairly but he continued to spread the word. He was noble scholar who memorized the Quran before the age of ten, had an excellent memory alhamdulilah and was well educated on fiqh, tafseer and hadith.
Sheikh Ibn Baz made a short biography on him, I'll try find it then link it to you insha'Allah.
I honestly don't know what this whole wahabi salafi thing is.

Asalaamualaikum, I will be leading Jummah for my islamic society in a couple of weeks as the current leader is going on study leave. Do you guys have any tips?
His name was IBN Abdul Wahaab

Abdul Wahaab was his father (a scholar in his own right)

And al-Wahaab is Allah!

I know right SubhanAllah!
was there a lot of hate back then as there is now so many bigots on the religion section..

here are all the other ISOC threads Farhan made (some i linked before were copies but these aren't):
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=415646
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=415641
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=309666
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=254978

these threads were made in different sections so i think that's why they aren't listed on the page. This thread should be changed to 14 instead of 10 right?

Phones about to dies so I'll reply more when at home.

I thought that there was a part of the talk that must be done in Arabic and I don't know of Arabic opinion that says otherwise it's best to confirm with someone of knowledge.
