Yes. I'd also say Echo and the Bunnymen, but maybe that's just because they're my favourite band :tongue: and they're probably less cool now than they were back in the 80's :tongue:
The Cramps. Or I could second the Smiths I guess.

There are loads of very cool lesser-known bands.
Young Fathers. They won the Mercury Prize last year.

People have already mentioned some of the greats such as Led Zeppelin and Queen, Pink Floyd and the Animals, Alice Cooper and Muse.

I will contribute a few less well known bands I think:

Diablo Swing Orchestra;
Aryeon;
Trollhaugen;
Tiger Lillies;
The Ocean;
Rammstein;
Sabaton;
Mr Bungle;
Rhapsody (of fire, and Luca Turilli's);
Not a band, but Tom Waits has always been pretty ****ing cool

For me, it's between The Doors...


...or The Specials


Black and white just makes a band seem cooler to me, I guess
