How did you guys do question 3?
Unofficial mark scheme for OCR M1 2017 (NOT MEI), @Fox Corner
Q1 - Distance from A to B = 4.18m, Velocity at B = 8.94ms-1
Q2 - Magnitude of resultant = 17.3N, Bearing = 093.3 degrees
Q3 - Velocity of A = 4.44ms-1, velocity of B = 5.24ms-1, momentum change of A = -0.312kgms-1
Q4 - Verify the distances are the same, velocity of ball = 3.3ms-1 upwards, velocity of object is 14.7ms-1 downwards, time to reach the ground after they coalesce is 1.32s
Q5 - maximum velocity is 2.4ms-1 at 1 second, minimum velocity is 1.45ms-1 at 7/3 seconds, distance while decelerating = 2.57m
Q6 - A = 1.75, angle of slope is 11.8 degrees, normal contact force = 1.92N, verify that the friction is 0.5N, V = 17.2ms-1
Q7 - mu = 0.1875, contact force = 3.19N, acceleration = 5.88ms-2, tension = 1.568N, length = 0.55m (some people are saying 0.64m however)

I did. I went into the exam expecting it to be my best exam of them all... nope. Didn't even get a final answer for a couple of questions.

Same here, I thought C1 was hard enough last year that they would make this year easy but I guess I was wrong.

Q1, 8.94
Q2 = root 304 and 087
Intergration Q, t=1 t =7/3

it's 93 not 87, you got 3 degrees as the inclination below the x axis, the question wants the bearing. So 90 plus 3.
Wasn't too bad, not the greatest exam but I'd like to think I got all apart from the total length (last q) and V, attempted both though so should get some marks

How did you guys do question 3?

I treated B as having moved x m, A x-1.6 and did some long ass calculations, however you know that as B moves 1.6m further in two seconds it has a velocity of (1.6/2) m/s greater, so make velocity of A B-0.8 and solve for B then get A
how many marks were each of the Qs? and what do you think the grade boundarie will be? i think around 50ish for an A

Can you put the marks given next to these mate?

MEI is a joke.
It was impossible to derive that equation.

Spent more time deriving than doing the actual exam

Really? It was just integrating I found it rather easy compared to the bizzare tennis question

USe the Mei thread for Mei:smile:))
Isn't the bearing 087?
Thanks for posting, I've got the same answers, excluding the last one where I suddenly acquired Autism and thought that 0.4m =4m
Can someone post what mark each Q was worth please? Thanks
