17 - How to become a HCA

So I'm 17, at college and have okay GCSEs. I really want to become a health care assisstant for the NHS and I was wondering how to go about this and what I would need to do, also how long and hard is it to get there.

Thanks a lot ! Dan

- I'm based in Huddersfield by the way.

Ask at the local hospital if they have any jobs

They may say that they do all their recruiting via NHS jobs website - worth signing up to - you can set it up for email alerts when jobs become available - and you can look at job descriptions etc.

You may want to check, you may have to be 18?? I can't think of any reason particularly why, but then I don't know any HCA's under 18 either!

Good luck to you, it's a wonderfully rewarding profession and very hard work!

I think that's it - you apply, you get the job... done...
