d'excellentes not des excellentes?

Très bien. Ils ont d'excellentes fraises ici.

Why is d' used instead of des?

Merci!

I believe it's related to an adjectival rule you have in French. If the adjective comes before the noun, you cut the 's' from 'des' article, e.g.

Ce sont de belles chansons.

Thank you, yep: de or d' are used before an adjective that is plural AND precedes a noun
