it was originally an optimistic battle cry/shout of victory (not sure how else to phrase it concisely!)
it basically means 'whoever says the following will be happy: true/eternal is the great/timeless lord (god)'
or something to that effect
you can read a loger and better explanation on wikipedia and sikhiwiki
btw where from pakistan are you from?
cos my grandparents were born there!

Originally born in Assam (wanna take a guess whereabouts in India this is?..without google lol), moved to Punjab in 97, came to London in 99, but still miss Punjab immensely!

anyone feel the same way? - about missing Punjab, that is :biggrin:

I may not be the conventional Punjabi but I am in Oxford and I am overwhelmed by the lack of ethnic minorities, I miss Punjabis!
Do youu have to be from Punjab to be Punjabi?

Merah pind Jalandhar deh kul ya.

People offer alcohol in the local Gurdwara as parshad (do not worry if you're shocked/offended by this, many are however, there is a reason why they carry out this practice:rolleyes:
