The EDL isn't racist, the BNP is....

I understand the EDL attracts a lot of extremist racists because it is the most famous movement around. However, after listening to the head of the EDL on the radio, tommy robinson, I can see where he is coming from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwIqQLSyO_k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxs1jxQ5WnI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCzCEb1k__8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7y8ITzw-KI
here is a link to there mission statement: http://englishdefenceleague.org/about-us/mission-statement/

The BNP on the other hand is a racist organisation whereas EDL is a peaceful movement which tries to stop the spread of sharia law.

Please correct me if I am wrong...I think that the EDL is just not racist....

:lolwut: They really aren't peaceful.
The EDL might not be institutionally racist like the bnp (althought there are plenty of racists in the EDL), however they are certainly not peaceful. All the EDL are, is a new form of football 'casuals'.
They're amusing to say the least;

The founder of the English Defence League has been convicted of leading a brawl involving 100 football fans.

Stephen Lennon, 28, led Luton Town supporters and chanted "EDL till I die"" as they clashed with Newport County fans in Luton, a court heard.

He was charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour during the clash on 24 August last year.

He denied the charges but was convicted after a trial on Monday at Luton and South Bedfordshire Magistrates' Court.

Lennon, of Luton, was arrested by officers who told him he was being taken into custody for suspected actual bodily harm from an outstanding allegation, which was later discontinued.

The court heard Lennon, of Luton, was "egging on" and "upping the ante" as the two sets of fans fought.

Magistrates were told he had been at the front of the group of Luton fans and gesticulated "come on then" at his opponents.

Timothy North, prosecuting, said two groups of opposing fans appeared close to Luton Town's Kenilworth Road ground five minutes before the evening kick-off.

"Officers noticed the presence of Mr Lennon in the group, at the head of the Luton Town supporters," he said.

"The impression was he was egging them on and leading them on. At one stage he was alleged to have shouted the words 'EDL'."
'Incredibly intimidating'

Mr North said "there would have been a substantial degree of fighting" if police had not intervened.

However, a brawl involving about 100 fans did erupt, with only seven officers between them.

PC Robert Field, who was an acting sergeant in charge of six colleagues, said the officers wielded their batons in a bid to stop the men fighting.

He described the situation as "incredibly intimidating" to the public and said it was "clearly going to get out of control".

He said he recognised Mr Lennon because of previous dealings with him and because he had tried to arrest him earlier that day over another matter.

PC Field said: "He was a prominent person at the front of the group, giving a 'come on then' gesture."
'Pumped-up'

He added: "I could see he was being looked at; he was holding the line of the Luton fans.

"He was being looked at to say: 'Do we go now?'."

District Judge Carolyn Mellanby told Lennon: "I am entirely satisfied you were at the front of this group of angry Luton supporters looking for trouble when you were confronted by the group of Newport supporters who were also angry and fired up looking for trouble.

"In DC Wheeler's words (officer in the case) you were pumped up and that's exactly how I find you would have been that day."

Lennon, who has previous convictions for assault, possession of cocaine and disorderly behaviour, shook his head upon hearing the verdict.

The difference you'll find is that the BNP is actively racist, whereas the EDL is far too ignorant to know that it is.

Who cares if they are or aren't racist? Everything they say is stupid. Nick Clegg probably isn't a racist, but it doesn't stop him being a tool.

okay, but they are not racist right? I believe multiculturism has failed and I am not allowed to say anything against it without being labelled as racist, like the EDL. what do you think....

Considering I didn't say anything about "white youths" or the ethnic makeup of the edl then no. I merely claimed there were racists in the EDL, which is true, and they act like a new form of football casuals, again which is true.

You expand, then, because all I've heard from the ELD is all sorts of anti-Islam malarkey.

the majority of the EDL i'd say are racist, even Tommy Robinson, he says he isn't and he's only against islamic laws (sharia law) being enforced onto the UK and is also against extremism for example muslim women in the full gear (black cloak from head to toe) etc..but then when you see him in documentaries, i remember one part in forgot what the programme was called but it was on channel 4..where some asian guy rang him to threaten him after he did a march and then he was mocking them back and giving disgracefully extreme racist remarks and also dissing his mum and dad whilst laughing with his mates..he says he isn't a racist but then his actions say the complete opposite!

Did one of them take out another EDL member with a bin when trying to hit a police officer?

Your title makes it sound like it's impossible for more than one group to be racist at any one time... As if there's some special 'racism stick' that gets handed around that only one group can have at a time.
