Hi, my name is Martin, i am 29yrs old and have been trying to do an A level in politics and government which has gone completly pear shaped.My dream is to get to uni to study law, but becouse i have no GCSEs this is very unlikely.I am currently looking for an access to HE which i could do by distance learning, i am currently living abroad.
Where there´s a will there is a way(so they say).

My name is Justin and 23 years old and not very mature although that is what I am classed as.

I am currently doing an access course at Liverpool Uni and have just recently been accepted to commence a 4 year Forensic Science degree at Liverpool John Moores.

Can't wait to start for real.

Accepted a place at Herts to study Radiotherapy (starting Sept).

Just finishing 22 years in the RAF.

BA(Hons) War Studies at Wolverhampton University in my 3rd and final year.

why you've returned to education:

To get a degree/post grad/phd and be involved in discussing issues relating to countering terrorism.

and any previous qualifications:

Access to HE (Humanities) from University of Wales College Newport.

Currently applying to Brunel,KCL,Reading and Leicester for taught MA's in Intelligence and Security Studies or something similar.

I'm 29 years of age, been married for 6 years this August and have have 2 wonderful children aged 4 months and 2 1/2 years.

Hi Everyone

Im 24 and currently doing A2's in French, Business & Accounting at college.

Ive accepted an offer from Oxford (Worcerster) to study French & Linguistics and my insurance is Bath.

Left school at 17 having not put the effort into studying, wrong attitude, getting stressed and generally under acheiving. Worked for five years full time before deciding to give studying another go! Glad i did because i really enjoy it and looking forward to going to uni!

I am 33, studying A-Levels in Chemistry & Biology, as did poorly 1st (and 2nd!) time around.
Returned to study to try to get a decent job, and because my brain doesn't get enough use!
Am considering applying for medicine, pharmacy or biology. Will need to make my mind up before I have to submit my UCAS form though. :confused:

The only GCSE I admit to having is my B in English, as I refuse to believe that grades D or below actually exist (or I view them as so worthless that they may as well be).

It's kinda worrying then that at my school I was told to aim for E grades in my GCSEs as apparently that is the average? Anyway I was in the middle set at the time and did do better than that, makes you wonder though if the middle set are aiming for E grades then what does the bottom set aim for?

I'm 34, have 3 kids aged 13, 10 and 6, and am starting my first degree at Strathclyde Uni in September.

I've been on a one-year Access course, and provided I pass with AAA profile, I'll be doing Law.

SO excited!!! SOOO scared!!

Hi everyone,

I'm 22, will be 23 when I start uni in Sept. Been suffering from M.E. for the past god knows how many years so didn't sit my GCSE's whilst I was at school so sat them at college and then went on to do AS's in chemistry, human biology and law. My illness got worse so I left college halfway through my A2's and took a couple of years out doing sod all, worse two years of my life! Returned this year and because my health has improved I applied to uni to study medicine. However, I withdrew a month ago due to worrying about not being able to cope with the demands of the course and scared that I will have a 'relapse'. So now I've applied to Bishop Grosseteste in Lincoln, a specialist teacher training college to study a BSc in Education Studies and Science and then I hope to do a PGCE. So yeah, that sums up the last 6 years of my life education wise!

One of my friends from my first degree had ME, so she tended to do a year, take a year out, do a year, etc... She got there in the end though :smile:

I'm 26 and have 2 children under 2. I decided 2 weeks ago that I wanted to be in a different place to where I am now by the time I'm 30. That involves me getting 3 a-levels, a degree, learning to drive and losing 2 more stones in weight.

I'm studying Photography, Sociology and Film for A levels and hope to go on to do a degree in photography in 2 years time.

I'm studying the sociology on a distance learning programme with Oxford open learning and the other 2 subjects at night school.

It is hard going but I'm throughly enjoying the challenge

Ok, better introduce myself.

I'm 38. Yes scallywags 38 (well 39 in October, but hey). I'm trying to fill out this UCAS thing and having a mighty hard job doing it. Being Scottish I've got all these exam results that the APPLY applet doesn't like, and on top of that it's asking me for some number that hadn't been invented in my day (SCN), maybe?

In short: I graduated in 1990 with a B.Eng (hons 2/1) in Electronic Engineering and as part of the sandwich degree got involved with Shell. Worked for them for 12 years and decided that i needed to get a life! Have looked after my kids 'till they're all out of the immediate way and mum has trained in her "dream" occupation, so it's my turn.

A reference from my school? Now let me see.......ah, when was that?

My last University... registrations don't know any of the lecturers.

Previous employer. ok got someone that knew me and still works for them, KL (Malaysia)? is that ok? :redface:

I'm sure it will be worth it, but boy isn't it harder when you're old, especially when you leave things until the last minute?

Anyhoo, I'm hoping to study Therapeutic Radiography at QMC (Edinburgh) starting this year, so wish me luck! Then again next year is ok too :eek:
