I'm so worried about this exam do you know if you can still get an A without using any studies from A2? There's just too much to learn...
How are you revising for it?
We were told you don’t have to use A2 studies, however my teacher recommended we try to get a few in if we’re aiming for an A. Although I think it is possible to get an A without using any. You certainly don’t need to know them in much detail for this exam, I’m just learning some of the names and which approach they belong to and very briefly what they’re about.
For section A I’ve written out several of the 19 markers, making sure I’m including everything to get the marks (like the sample size, the timings, ethics, controls etc). I still need to revise inferential statistics, for that I’ll probably just make sure I know which test to use. For section B I’ve taken each approach/perspective and answered the questions from the past papers in relation to that approach/perspective. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the first few questions in section B are always the same but with a different approach/perspective.. so you can memorise some of the answers before going into the exam. I’m mainly concentrating on the individual differences approach as that’s the only one that hasn’t come up.

Ahh I haven't looked at any a2 studies I guess I've got plenty of time till the exam. I've noticed that thing in section B it should help to have some stuff prepared.. Section B is so long! I'm worried I'm gonna run out of time lol I was thinking that aswell, it hasn't been in any past paper so its worth revising individual differences loads. Are you revising the debates much?
My College are quite keen on either Psychodynamic, Behaviourist or Individual Differences coming up as a Section B. Which (minus ID) I'm pretty pleased on. I'd recommend doing A2 studies, tbh they're not that difficult to learn - especially Adams for Psychodynamic (the penis study if any of you have learnt that already )
Haha, care to elaborate on it? We haven’t covered any psychodynamic studies (apart from Freud at AS) so I could really do with knowing some more..
Oh god I hate writing about Freud, theres just so much I dont know what to include so my answer is generally an incredibly cut down version of his findings xD Honestly dont know how that guy is taken seriously - he was on cocaine most of the time. Thigpen and Cleckley is also included in the Psychodynamic perspective.
Adams is a study based on the Reaction-Formation defence mechanism and is basically about how homophobic guys actually have some homosexual tendencies. 64 students from a Uni given a questionnaire measuring how homophobic they were then split into 2 experimental groups (homophobic and non) then they were made to watch hetero, lesbian and gay porn whilst having the circumference of their penis measured. Surprisingly 80% of homophobic men had a greater enlargement during the gay porn.
So yeah we had a bit of a giggle during this study

Thank you so much Yeahh, there might have been a reason why our teacher didn’t tell us that one, it would have sent the class into hysterics.. Freud was bad enough
For this exam, i am cool with it as my teacher told the class to write a section b answer for individual differences, behaviourist and psychodynamic. Depending on which A2 topics everyone takes, there is a possible of 10 studies you only need to know but i've narrowed it down to 7 which are:
Thigpen & Cleckley - Individual Differences and Psychodynamic Griffiths - Individual Differences and Behaviourist Bandura - Behaviourist Freud - Psychodynamic Watson & Raynor - Individual Differences and Behaviourist McGrath - Individual Differences and Behaviourist Yochelson & Samenow - Psychodynamic
Here is an attachment of a Section B individual differences answer and a comparison table of the approaches and perspectives.

I hope you liked it as i do as well as it is a B grade answer.
Part a was 4 marks out of 4. Part b was 6 marks out of 8. Part c was 8 marks out of 12. Part d was 4 marks out 8. (forgot to put this up.) Part e was 7 marks out of 8
This gave me 29 marks out of 40 which is a B grade.

Ah great. My teacher has predicted the same things as you to come up - Psychodynamic, Behaviourist, Individual Differences or Social as well he said to have a look up.
Anyway know if any of the debates are expecting to pop up and what sort of questions we'll be asked for them?
