Actually there's not that much of a difference between Hindi and Urdu when speaking it, bar a few words. But Hindi is um...written in Hindi..and Urdu is written in Urdu lol
One's derived from Sanskrit and the other is derived from Farsi. :smile:

It's not really a language, but memon people basically speak a mixture of Urdu/guji/Hindi - its pretty standard. You'd probably understand someone who speaks "memon" more than me, it's really similar to Gujarati.

Lol I can speak Gujrati properly, just know a few dandy phrases :wink:
I can sort of get the jist of sentences, but that's about it :frown:

thanks alot for the wiki article, I didnt know about memon people, and also about the sanskrit and farsi derivations of hindi and urdi, interesting.

I find it quite interesting how they have developed a mix of those languages. But I have heard Gujarati Muslims before and have understood them perfectly. That's more than can be said when kutchi people speak. I really don't understand them as well LOL.
