sheffield is a good uni, the girls there are really hot. Kind of angery with myself for not applying. I applied to UCL instead, biggest mistake ever.

UCL is a good university too, I considered about it before, but it's too expensive to me to study architecture in London, so I gave up~:smile:

haha i've applied for architecture this yr :smile: and yes, UCL is a rly good uni but i have not applied... because i know it's highly highly competitive!!

Yeah~I like Sheffield, they are really good. They asked me to represent my street in a medium of my choice. So still confusing how to deal with it..may be Chinese traditional art??:confused:


Ofcourse you can do anything!, unless they specify..:confused: Chinese traditional art- that will show you love your culture etc maybe ? XD:smile:
I liked Sheffield too, and I also liked the trams in the city itself, reminds me of Hong kong islandXD
I missed my offer for Sheffield last year, lol, they didnt ask for portfolio though :P, i guess its getting more competitive this year, which I'm really worried about ~!

Me like Kpop and Jpop and a lot of mandarin music. Very little cantonese stuff ='S XD. >_< BTW, do you have Big Bang's latest album? o_O I still to get my hands on it. It feels like they're always releasing new stuff. I have like so many songs already under their name in media player lol.
Didn't know you listened to Mika Nakashima btw! haha.

And what's this cooking thing everyone is talking about =D? I want to - in fact no - I NEED to learn how to cook more Chinese food before I get too old. =O I'm so worried that our generations are the going to lose culture!

Nah I didnt apply this year lol, I probably couldnt compete with this years candidates, and they might remember me.. as i missed their offer lols,
yah, my parents are from HK, but I was born here, so I'm BBC, but i love HK!!! cant wait to go there on holiday again!XD

I think I recognise &#20013;&#22283;&#20154;, is that literally middle-kingdom people? (zh&#333;ng guó rén)

Any advice? I'm doing some audio lessons. T&#257; h&#283;n shàn
Audio lessons complemented by this online Mandarin dictionary. Do you have to just.. start memorising characters?

how did u manage to mark the characters with tones?

looking back upon how i learned my native tongue,

1. pinyin (phonetic alphabet + tones "be careful for the third tone....pretty tough at least for me it was though :biggrin: :biggrin: :biggrin: " )

2. the strokes ( character radicals "memorising them based on thier connotation *my special methods, heehee*)"+ stroke order "left-->right & top -->bottom & outside--> insight" )

3. how to write chinese characters

4. phrase

5. making sentences

6. reading + writing

plus, oral and listening all the time. :yep:

Haha cool. You know the Chinese arch near town? I saw that had the zhong symbol on it, what does the other one say? I'm sure it isn't guo.

I put the sentence into a website I found online, with like "wo1" after each word for the tone, can't remember what one though :mad:

What do you mean by radicals?


the radical is component of a chinese character ( sometimes on one side of a word).

i.e. &#20320; (you) : the radical is the left part of the character signifying it's something related to human beings. and also like &#20182; (he)

can you understand?

mmm...another example:

&#33609; &#65288;grass&#65289;its radical is the upper part of the word which implies the word represents a kind of plant.

btw, radicals can't be typed out on pc. :p: :p: :p:
