I have a Moleskine notebook, but its pages are really thin and the ink from my fountain pen would seep through... Are there certain ones with thicker pages?

I've had several yet have never had a problem with the black ink I write in. You can get ones with different types of paper (Cahier ones, for example, seem to have slightly thicker paper and you can get watercolour notebooks), but I just go for the regulation black ones. I just leave the page open for a couple of minutes before closing so the ink doesn't smudge but that's the case with fountain pens in most notebooks. Smudging is much easier than seeping I reckon.

So long as you don't use extreme pressure when writing and wait for the ink to dry between turning pages and from my experience, I wouldn't think it would seep tbh.

Pencil is really good as a back up choice though.
I used to really like stationary but at uni I seem to have found a way which is effective but doesn't require all this fun stuff. I think the most fun thing I have in my stationary draw is a set of pipe-cleaners.

Thanks for the tips! I use pencil on my Moleskine, but I do adore my fountain pen.

As a fellow organisation obsessive this thread is like porn for me :sogood:

You get 'friendly' by reading about pens and paper? :s-smilie:

I'm really unorganized, so i'm sitting here reading everything wondering how you all do this.

Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably big (about A2 sized) whiteboard? Either high street shop or internet is fine.

I usually do everything in notebooks but I find going through more difficult maths on whiteboards is much easier.

Aah this is my kind of thread. My friends just don't understand my love of pens and other stationary. So glad other people feel the same way as me

The Union shop sells Pukka Pad Irlan paper which is meant to be for people who have eye sight problems, but they do it in lilac and I've bought loads of them as it makes my notes just that little bit more appealing.

Pen wise, I love my parker fountain pen, but I also really like disposable fountain pens, they come in standard black and blue, but also pink purple and turquoise so I have a few of those. Clear pencil case so I can see everything in it (plus don't have to mess about finding one at exam times).

The one thing I'm really anal about is having pens and pencils in the right order..rainbow order..I don't know when or why this started but if people borrow them and don't put them back....psscchh not happy.

As far as organisation goes, I have clearly taken on far too much this year, (stupid as it's my final year), so I have had to make a spread sheet of everywhere I have to be for the first three weeks on excel...going to print it out and stick it on my wall.

Aah that makes me sound so sad.

Wilkinson or Ryman may have one, or try ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Approx-A2-Large-Pine-Framed-White-Board-W-Pen-60x40cm-/370539739498?pt=UK_BOI_Office_Equipment_Supplies_Office_Equipment_ET&hash=item5645e3b96a#ht_1242wt_1139

Hope that helps

I was so shocked no-one started a stationery thread!

Oh good, I'm not the only one that gets excited over stationery.

Love this thread! I'm an absolute stationery obsessive! I have a palgrave planner as well and have done for the last 2 years! I love narrow ruled paper but it has to be really smooth or I can't write on it. As for pens...biros, coloured biros, felt tips, highlighters and sharpies  so glad I'm not the only one haha!!

You do realise you're making me want to go shopping now? I have't got anything yet (apart from the things I got from Paperchase yesterday that don't count!) and I always have to have something really special to motivate myself to revise.

Pins! I forgot pins :frown:

Blackwells narrow ruled is rubbish as well - too flimsy. Pukka Pad paper is really excellent as you say, but apparently they don't do it in narrow rule.

I always buy my files before school/uni because it's so much easier. One for each module and a spare to lug general stuff around Uni.

That will forever be the bane of my existance. It seems that no-one thinks of those of us who write on narrow ruled paper.
There's always one thing you forget! I think for me it will be pritt stick. I always think I won't need it and don't buy it and then I find halfway through the year that I desperately need glue for something! And I need a backpack! I'm going to forget to buy one and have nothing to put my books and my planner and my stationery in which will make all my attempts at organisation useless! :afraid:

I need to find some cheap lever arches. That are actually strong. The ones I've had for about 3 years are falling apart in some way. Can anyone recommend some good and cheap(ish) files?

PURPLE!

You'll come to learn about my purple obsession. It isn't pretty.

I got my whiteboard from WHSmiths.

  Oooh, what brand are the disposable fountain pens? I hate how fountain pens nearly always just come in blue. :colondollar: I had a cheap Parker but I...er... lost it. That's why I can't have nice things!
And don't worry, you sound no sadder than me!

My dividers from Wilkinsons have lasted for a pretty long time. I've heard the plastic ones, though expensive, are pretty good because they won't break.

The only thing I bought this year was a plastic folder covered in goldfish cos I thought it was class. I have so much stuff left over from A Levels...true to my geeky form, I did go through it, sort it, and write up a list of everything. But only so I didn't wander into Paperchase and buy stuff 'in case I don't have it.'

Each subject teacher in my old school gave us a lever arch file, but I never filled all of them. So I have six empty ones, just waiting for lecture notes. The joy...I think the only thing I need more of is file paper, narrow ruled. I go through that like crazy.

I'm going to try and use up the blank notebooks I've collected and never used. Not lecture notes, but just scribbles, or shopping lists, or projects. I have to get out of the way of buying notebooks and not using them, aargh...

They are Pilot V pen http://www.cultpens.com/acatalog/Pilot-VPen-Erasable.html cheaper than getting them in paper chase, and I'm guessing what I call turquoise is the peacock green. But yes amazing pens!

I have a trusty old Snopake lever arch and a few ringbinders from college as well.
I was thinking about getting the Palgrave planner, it looks good.

I love shopping for stationary! Definitely gonna follow this thread to make sure I don't forget anything that might come in handy :h:
I have looked, I mean i had a fancy in WHSmiths and couldn't find, for those weird little disc things you can get to strengthen hole-punches

It strikes me the people in this thread will know - Revising for my exams this year made me realise that for some (probably weird) reason, writing facts and the likes ON my body helps me remember them. Anyone know some skin friendly pens?

Oh this thread is amazing! I nearly had a meltdown in my local Paperchase yesterday when I realised they had a massive sale on and had to restrain myself. This thread has now reminded me of so many more things I need to buy.. Paperchase may be about to get wiped clear by myself.

Palgrave Planner: Cheap, looks decent. Only thing I'm concerned about is I'm a lefty and it's ringed so could potentially be annoying to write in.

Uni-Ball Jetstream SX210 Pens: Fast drying rollerball pens designed for left handed people.

John Lewis Refill Pad: Find this the smoothest and whitest paper I've tried writing on. Doesn't sink through much at all either.

Frosted Lever Arch File: Way more durable than crappy cardboard ones, don't need fancy designs.
