Or get work experience at a local bank e.g. hsbc, santander or Barclays.

Or why not work as a shop assistant!

If you don't know, don't post. Seriously.

Would be really suprised if you secured any place in an IB without contacts. Good luck though, I settled for Llyods TSB :frown:

I do actually have a close family contact who is an MD at a major bank although I haven't had a great deal of luck by going down that route so bit stuck if it is just reliant on contacts :-/
You're in year 11. Who gives a **** anyway.

Just get good grades, then worry about it at university.
I did mine at Fidelity, contact though I'm afraid.

Any work experience = better than none tbh, irrespective of usefulness on a CV.

Anyway unless you're the child of a banker (and even then it's unlikely you'll get work experience in an IB) getting work experience in a retail bank branch is the closest a year 11 student will most likely get to relevent work experience.

I mean seriously. When I worked part-time at John Lewis, the kids that came in the summer for work experience couldn't even fold towels. Do you really think an IB is going to have anything useful to do for them?

In Year 11 it's leisure time wasted.

He is in Year 11. Anyone work experience would do. The only real one he can get is:

That's about it.

The Windsor Fellowship runs the I have a Dream programme with Deutsche for Ethnic Minority students. Goldman run an insight day too. Morgan Stanley does run a programme - you have to pester HR for details though.

Do you have a link to the goldman insight day thing or do you have to email them?

Yeh, Printernships are all the rage!

Seriously though, look at Rothschild, Deloitte, KPMG for year long programs pre uni.

Could you also provide a link to any of these programmes as I cant seem to find them

Nope, hence why I wrote "year long" originally.

Go on their websites and research it to find out about insight days.

ok thanks for helping out
Is that really what's on the minds of the current cohort of year 11s? Man, all I cared about back then was how to get past that ghost creature in Thief and how to get a wet finger (not at the same time though). Seriously kids, chill out. It's all good and for your own social development, as being able to hold a conversation is a vital tenet of succeeding in banking.

Apologies, I forgot this thread was made especially for you and not for the future benefit of any IB&C readers.

Dont worry it's just PwC, they have no standards at all.

It was held twice a year, once in November and once in February, but they've changed it from 2010 onwards. It will be held in October, and is for women only as its sponsored by the GS 10,000 women initiative.

Source - GS Representative came to school to promote girls from our school to apply to it.

Literally Google the KPMG, PwC and Deliotte programmes, and its the first results. KPMG and PwC also have one-day insight days open to everyone (unlike GS above).
