Yeah they do give that I know they and Cambridge put a lot of emphasis on maths (LSE more so). From what I've heard, it doesn't go too much further than A- level F.Maths, particularly in regards to Pure but the Stats is a little more complicated.
Yay. I know what I'm doing over the summer. I'm waiting in anticipation for bookings now Gah.. decision maths will cause the death of me.. it's so irritatingly slow and precise.. it's not as fun as complex numbers.
:s Seems as though you really wanna stay in London, just out of interest what were your GCSE's like because LSE and UCL are very very competetive for Economics, and base offers on both AS and GCSE's.
Haha yeah, I sound rather a delusional detemined person? 8A*s, 2As. Honestly, I'm worrying over my A Levels a lot more. I'm going down in ranking, to keep myself safe, because you never know what to expect.. well actually with more throrough research you could.. perhaps I have yet another activity to do over summer.
That's a very high risk three :P Any idea of what insurances you'd pick? What are your GCSEs like, because that will be a very important factor for both UCL and LSE
Igcse- 9A*s. english first language, malay (foreign), mandarin (foreign), math, add math, 3 sciences and econs. I havent done my research on the insurances, but to name a few : bristol, bath, exeter. Any suggestions?

You call those three insurances... but they all dished out mostly A*AA offers in this cycle, not exactly a safety net. York and Nottingham are both good insurances

Those are never insurances. A LOT of Oxbridge applicants apply there as well and Bath had 10 applicants per place last year as well. As the above user said as well, they do give high offers. My insurances are also likely to be Nottingham and Exeter/York since they give AAB offers although you'll have to reconsider as they may change standard offers.
ME!!! not offered in my school but hopefully will not be of any disadvantage!!
Wow, you have such good grades, and you're going to have like 6 A-levels including 2 languages.... I don't think you need to worry about lack of economics... :L
You have to remember the people in this thread are going to be a very select sample of the applicants for 2012, not many people would be this keen as to start discussing their chosen universities this early! :P
Do you plan on applying to economics in this stream too?
Yes, I'm hoping the weather will be nice! Apparently you either love or hate LSE, so hopefully I will have made my mind about applying after Wednesday.
Yes, I'm applying this year. No exams yet but my ASs are Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Economics and History. Pretty good combination, if I say so myself. Just need to do well!

I guess that's what the open day is for! I just want to see what the dorms/rooms are like
Yeah I'm applying for economics (or ppe, or economics with history). I like to think it's a good choice, any thoughts?
As long as you have a keen interest in economics then you should be fine Also the type of economics course can depend on the subjects that you're taking. For example, if you wanted to do economics with history it would be a good idea to be doing history (obviously). If you look at the different university courses, they should specify which subjects they particularly prefer for each course
Acerbic, PPE is good and so is economics with history. LSE offer a course called Economic History with Economics which might interest you?
Seen economic history, it looks a bit naff to me - too little of both economics and history. I'm finding having to specialise in one subject or another frustrating, hence the joint honours courses having appeal.

It's not that I'm uncertain about economics, rather that history and politics are damn interesting too as well as being pretty important in studying economics.

I agree, that combination looks pretty strong! Will you be taking all your subjects to A2?

Ah I see If you're interested in several subjects, then I think a joint degree might be best for you
And I had module exams in January, so these mocks are for the summer modules that I'll be sitting. Did you have any exams in January? How did they go?
