"From August 2010, an A* grade is to be introduced to the grading of A-levels, the Diploma and the Extended Project. As always, at Bristol we recognise that a standard of performance that is exceptionally high, in the context of the circumstances of its attainment, may indicate outstanding ability, motivation, and potential to succeed, and take this into account when assessing candidates. Therefore, some admissions tutors may frame offers incorporating A* grades, depending on the context of the application as a whole, the particular subject and the intensity of competition for available places."
