Need help for Salters B coursework!

Doing skill 3 coursework tomorow, been told the following:

a copper (ii) compound: cu2+ ions oxidise iodide ions I- to form iodine I2. Sodium thiosulfate then titrates the iodine.

What should I revise? Can you give me help with the above, perhaps the equations, or websites that will help me? What do I need to be confident on e.g what kind of calculations could come up etc.

Also why is excess potassium iodide added to the copper (ii) solution when creating iodine?

Grateful for any help, thanks
