Do I need to apply for accommodation if Imperial is my INSURANCE choice?

I recently chose Imperial as my Insurance choice and received an email about activating the e-student account and all the rest. I have read that those who place Imperial as their insurance choice will only be sent an email about applying for accommodation on the 1st August (if you miss your Firm choice).

Does this mean that I don't need to apply for accommodation?

Worth it I'd say, it doesn't cost anything to apply. Would be mighty awkward for you if you didn't then ended up at Imperial.

Thank you for the reply however, I don't think that you have properly answered my question. I am not asking if it is worth applying for accommodation, I was asking if it is expected. As far as I know, if you have chosen Imperial as your insurance choice, you do not apply until August 1st if you fail to meet the requirements for your first choice. Is this true?
