Is manchester uni a good uni?

I'm looking to do computer science at a uni and is Manchester uni a good uni for it? Also would my gcses hinder my chances of getting in my gcse grades are

Spanish A*
Cida 2M
Geo B
French B
Maths B
Eng lit B
Eng Lan C
Art U
Presuming I have exceeded their requirements thanks.

Therefore your GCSEs seem fine. Can't comment on the department though.

Manchester is a very strong university with a worldwide reputation.
No idea on your department, all I know is that the world's first computer was invented here and the entry requirements for your department are very high (A*AA) so it must be good then.

Manchester has one of the best CS departments in the country and your GCSEs are fine.
It's supposed to be very good for Computer Science AFAIK.

As a general rule, most Universities don't care about GCSEs past the basic 6-7 A*-Cs (if that). They're usually much more concerned with A Level progress as it's a more immediate precursor, education wise.

The obvious exceptions to that rule (that I can think of) are certain courses (I'm aware of Medicine since that's my field, but I'm sure there are others) and Oxbridge, where it's generally good advice to show consistent potential, but even then, they're known for breaking that mould occasionally.
