I'm a bit paranoid now. I don't want my brother knowing what websites I have accessed using my laptop. I was wondering if he is able to check this by doing something with the router? He is a wizz at stuff like this and I suspect he's have a look at what I have been looking at.

Is it possible to check what I have been looking at via the router?

I delete all ym web history on my laptop but he doesn't touch it anyway.

I have a netgear router and I can check through all of my sisters history! I regualry do it lol hehehe

All the routers I've had have a log feature on them, and they're not particularly expensive ones... so chances are he probably can. If you can log into the router, though, you can probably delete or disable the logs.

I don't intend to make you paranoid but...
If he has ever had physical access to your laptop(even one time) then he could have installed a silent vnc client(a remote desktop cliient) allowing him to view and control your computer(including view your history) if your are connected to the same AP(i.e. router). But if he has done this and is spying on you, well you would notice your mouse moving when it is not supposed to. If you really want to make sure you can look at your list of processes(ctrl+alt+del) and if anyone of them has a name similar to vnc.exe then you might want to remove this process.

But it seems you don't havn't noticed anything so unless your brother is very discrete you shouldnt have too much to worry about. And anyways since you say you delete your history unless the router is logging your connections it should be fine afaik.

Actually the mouse doesn't need to move at all. You can disable key presses and mouse clicks/movement in a VNC client.

Also, what about key loggers? There are so many things he could do to spy on you if he really wanted. (Assuming he is a 'wizz' at PC stuff as you stated)

Depends on the router, most keep a log within the router system anyway. The page where you change the wireless bands is where he can do this. What have you been looking at anyway?

Type in the address on the bottom of the router into your web browser. If there's a password, enter it.

If it's porn, what's there to be paranoid about. Everyone looks at porn. Well most people. :yes:

get to network connections(control panel) and right click on your connection and click on "status".
on the window that pops up go to the second tab(support) and look at "default gateway", this should be the address of your router(mostly something like 192.168.1.1)
just access the address of your router in a browser and unless there is a password on your router, you should be able to see if your router has a log feature or not.
and also you could browse your websites through a proxy to not have them logged if you don't want to disable the log feature

no it should be somewhere in the routers papers, if it's still the default one it might be something like "admin"(password and login)

In most cases yes, but if it's unchanged from the default it should be under the router. If it has been changed, then your brother probably knows it, if as you say he's a whizz, then he's changed it.

Your brother is a wizz at this stuff yet he left the default password on the router? Biggest mistake ever. Almost as golden as having no password on your wireless. On my router it tracks all incoming and outgoing requests (£40 linksys one) which if I wanted could track what sites are being used by who, but it only keeps the last 30 or so requests and when you're torrenting it clears it out within a minute or two. I only look at it to track to see how much traffic is going through the router and who keeps clogging it up.
