Oh god I love Django.

Have you heard Stochelo Rosenberg or Joscho Stefan?

I have indeed!

That's a little bit depressing, isn't it? :p:

Very! It always cracks me up when people ask what sort of music he made, and then if I say he was a jazz musician they turn their noses up and say "I don't like jazz". I mean - "what kind of jazz?!" It's weird how people will dismiss a huge and very broad genre so easily. :s-smilie:

Ok, so at risk of getting shouted at, because these are fairly mainstream: (:p:)

Cute Is What We Aim For, The Rocket Summer, The Script, Daughtry.

But yeah, i know, a lot of people will have heard of these.

No to both sadly, i read a really bad review for Louis XIV's new album, but I think I might go and check their myspace now to see if the new songs are on there.

I can see why the new stuff wouldn't be as well received - I didn't like it at first, but it has grown on me. Not as good as the first album though.

Ahhh Pledge Of Alliegance ^_^

Interesting thread idea - I'd say Fujiya and Miyagi, The Most Serene Republic, The Radio Dept., The Format and The Future Sound of London are amongst the slightly more obscure music (in the UK at least) that I enjoy.

Tbh, most people i talk to with a vast interest in that style of music have, but my mates are idiots and listen to only metalcore ewwwww

I may have to acquire some then.. And Dream Theater.

Yeah, 'twas a few years ago now (hm.. 2002 or 2003 maybe?) - they were supporting the Manics. Come to think of it, I think I saw SFA at a Manics gig as well, though I've also seen them separately.

I don't think DT really count as unknowns....

Good band though. Saw them in Manchester a few years ago on their Train of Thought tour.

Symphony X are more accesible than Dream theater tbh, dream theater use a lot more prog aspects in their music and longer length songs, which personally i like but which arent for everyone whereas symphony X are less proggy,

And tomber, id of thought that, but to most people its like :O who are they?

but i do live in a ****hole,

Rumble Strips and Mute Math are fantastic.

Hmm, top 5 unknownish bands... My taste hasn't really moved on in a while, it needs updating.

Elle Milano, Cut Off Your Hands, Ratatat, Tired Irie, Data.Select.Party.

Yeah I've heard of them. I can't think of any of their songs atm but I'm sure I'd know ones by them.
