porn legal prostitution illegal?

This doesn't make much sense to me, it's legal to make a pornographilcal film (as far as I'm aware), where people are having sex with one another, and of course, the actors get paid for it. However it's illegal for one to recieve money for it if it's not a porn film?

Have I got something in this wrong?
Am I missing something?

And if what's I've said is true, should both be legal or both be illegal, but surely not one legal and one illegal?

No it's illegal to solicit for sex, kerb crawling. Prostitution is legal in this country, although in practice it's not easy to do legally. If I said to a woman I want to give you money to have sex with me and she accepted, that is perfectly legal.
One obvious difference is that the actors in a porn film are paid to have sex with each other by a production company, whereas with prostitution the client pays the prostitute to have sex with him/her.

It's illegal to sell yourself on the street, it's not illegal to pay for sex.
its legal to sell sex, just illegal to buy sex, thing that's how the law is
And what goes on in pron films are more carefully controlled, so there won't be loads of infections floating about :tongue:
Prostitution is not illegal. Solicitation is.

To be exact, it's illegal to pay for solicited sex.

To be precise, brothels or houses with more than one woman illegal, advertising for sex, illegal, making money from prostitution ie pimping and so on, or even working in one of those "massage parlours" is illegal. So in practice it's not easy to do legally but it is possible.

In Portsmouth for example hookers generally hang out in what's known as "under the guild hall steps", which is local parlance for the pubs around the guildhall, and the up to the dockyard sort of area. So they can be picked up by men without actively soliciting, sort of like a code of she is approached by a man she is on the clock he then offers her money so it's not soliciting as such. It's just meeting in an agreed area for sex. As long as there's no brothel involved there's little the police could do.

I look like a right manwhore now, I really amt it's just I've had this discussion loads before. Honest! :smile:
