So, you're linking to the W3C validator but your pages fail to validate...
sorry laser you make me look silly lol, give me a few days im working on a new layout.
Could people let me know what they think of http://www.springymedia.com, it's the site for my business.

I know it's being a bit buggy in firefox, and I'd love to know how it's behaving in IE, I know it works great in Safari :smile:

On older browsers your website wouldn't render at all, it would simply be a blank page.

In your HTML (on pretty much every page) you have got:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>Springy Media | Home</title>
<meta name="description" content="Welcome to Springy Media, handling all your writing needs."
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<style type="text/css">

The description meta tag is missing a finishing '>' bracket. This may sound trivial but if someone is on a very old browser, it may simply not be able to make sense of the HTML.

Hi, thanks for picking me up on that. does simply missing off that tag stop it from rendering? and will putting it back in sort the problem out?

Thanks

Blimey looking at the code brings back memories of 2005, i.e. table-based layout, and a few other obvious no-nos, for example common CSS not being pulled from an external stylesheet, no H1/H2 tags, you're missing your most important keywords in your title "writing & marketing", a border around your header image on all pages but your first one (I guess with an external stylesheet, this wouldn't have happened), and there's plenty more.

If you want to do this by yourself, check out w3schools, htmldog.com and sitepoint (and it's forums). Otherwise, I'd have thought, just like you're advertising your business, you should seek professional help with getting this in order (simply by missing the h1 tags and the keywords in your title, you're losing big opportunities for search engine traffic, but of course, there's so much more where you could optimise with regards to this).

Don't get me wrong, I like the general design of it, just not how you converted it to html.
Anyone fancy taking a look at my website and advise me where I'm going wrong....

Had very little registrations/posts... and I'm thinking this is stopping people wanting to register... talk about a double edged sword.

How have you advertised it? I think that's more likely to be your problem. Are you getting visitors but having difficulty converting them to registrations?

Advertising it over twitter, by posting the local news (with a #leicester) my RSS poster generates. I also tweet about any interesting topics, inviting opinions from whoever happens to read it.

Elsewhere nowhere at the moment, most places aren't interested in it because of it's lack of members.

I am getting about 40+ unique visitors a day, and not one even clicks a registration link
Hi,

I'm finishing my A2 courses this year, and last year me and a friend decided to set up a website. It isn't as profitable as we thought it would be, but we've just put Adsense adverts on the site so hopefully it will get more profitable.

I'm looking for feedback on it at the moment. What do you think of the site? How useful are the reviews/interviews? What do you like/dislike?

Any constructive criticism or suggestions are welcome. Hopefully 2010 will be a good year for the website. Check the link below and post a reply here. Cheers!

I find your website to be appallingly buggy. Clicking links doesn't always bring up the page it should. Sometimes the nav bar disappears almost entirely. You could do with proper titles for each video clip. There's nothing that makes me want to watch "Exclusive interview with...".
You need to do some work on your page design - give more emphasis to the navigation - this makes it easier for the user, so they use more ,and hopefully you earn a little bit more.

p.s. - Adsense is notoriously difficult to make a decent amount of money with - you really gotta be hauling in the traffic, and then losing it through theads to make anything
It's just one page, adverts and three videos?
Or am I missing something?

There's a nav bar with reviews etc on. There are a few more pages if you look there.

To everyone else, how would I improve page design and the nav bar? Also, to the person who suggested Adsense was a bad idea, what are the alternatives which would be more appropriate for us?

Finally, the biggest question. Does anyone have an idea how to get around the issue of lack of reviews? We could do them ourselves, but I would really rather focus on getting into Uni. Simply arranging interviews and getting on press/guest lists etc takes enough of my time as it is.

Cheers
