Mast C1 Past paper question help

I'm interested in part D - I've looked at the mark scheme and you need to square AC somehow but I don't really understand it, if someone can have a go at the question and let me know how they got the 'show that' answer it would be great, thanks.

you use pythagoras

same as you did in (c)

C is (p,y)

where y is found by using the equation in part (a)

The co-ordinates of C are (p, 12p+6) \displaystyle \left(p, \ - \frac12p + 6 \right)

The co-ordinates of A are (2, 5) (2, \ 5)

AC=5 AC = 5

Use, AC2=(y2y1)2+(x2x1)2 AC^2 = (y_2-y_1)^2 + (x_2-x_1)^2
