Its more the fact its a] none of his business b] not appropriate to insult your host country barely a day into his trip and then proceed to let fly 3 more questionable remarks

I disagree that its none of his business. The olympics is a world event. There is a risk that American's could die as a result of the unpreparedness. If the games were in a different country and there was worry that they were unprepared, I should have the right to voice my concerns to.

It is true, however, that the timing was bad, and I don't think it really does Romney any favours at all.

He's a Republican. He would have wanted the free market to organsie the Olympics.

Lol, the republicans and the democrats are exactly the same.

You think G4S is a failure of the free-market? Hilarious. More like a failure of crony capitalism / corporatism.

And the Soviet Union was a failure of... um... crony communism? Tell me more about this mythical free market utopia of yours.

No, they're not.

I suggest you learn to distinguish the difference between free market capitalism and crony capitalism.

The government hand picked G4S to provide security. If it was a free market, the government wouldn't get involved, and there would be competition.

Your idea of "free market capitalism" is essentially the right's version of communism. It's never been implemented successfully, and where people have tried it, the end results have been utterly disastrous.

If it was a free market, the government wouldn't get involved, and there would be competition.

"Free market" as it's used in economic jargon does not mean unregulated. You seriously need to start from the basics.

Please elaborate.
Romney managed to look out of touch in a country that still has a queen.

It might be worth mentioning that even Fox news in the US didn't understand why Romney would say something like this. Krauthammer (as-biased-as-you-can-get-Fox-analyst) started ripping Romney too, which is hilarious in itself.

Romney's remarks were an attack on the Blair government for choosing to host them in London rather than in the Highlands of Scotland where there's a bit more space.

In the unlikely event it would be affordable to build a complex in the highlands, so far away from any major trading ports and centres, there certainly isn't any guaranteed flat space to set the sprawling complexes there, unless we're going to call it the mountainside-vista olympics.

Brilliant. Never thought I'd say it but Fox News guy is right, Romney had one job, and that was to be polite and say nothing important and he screwed up.

At least the organisers aren't jailing protesters or forcing >1million people out of their homes like in Beijing 2008.

Actually the police nicked cyclists protesting in London for using a Zil lane or something, and the Olympic village had to bulldoze a neighbourhood sooo...

Not exactly clean hands either.

I think there's a big difference between that and what China did. The cyclists you mentioned weren't arrested for protesting, they were arrested for being in a lane specifically designated for certain traffic. Plus they'll probably get away with just paying a fine, I doubt the Chinese Government were that nice to their protesters!

How could Romney say such a thing, it's not like the wrong flag was displayed in a football game, the wrong Kazakhstan nation was played, or a load of empty seats were left despite over five years of supposed planning ...

Oh dear, aren't we a police state for prioritising lanes in such an overcrowded and claustrophobic city. I'm guess the socialist minions of Hitler, Mao and Stalin combined would've given them so much more, right?
Silly ****. Should mind his own business.

No they didnt there was nothing there before the park was built it was a desolate toxic dump.
Also the police nicked the cyclists for breach of the peace not solely for using the Olympic lane
