As Physics Unit 3B 11th May 2012

Is anyone doing this exam?
Please, can anyone predict which experiments will come?
And also, please can we discuss about all the experiments in the As level specification of physics.
I am really worried..:frown: I need an A for this exam badly.

I am doing the same exam the same day, and i am really worried about the electricity experiments. Anyways i think it is easier than Unit 1 and 2.

Hey guys I am going the paper as well ... However with the knowlege I hav ev there can beany experiment .. There are about 12 ones that you should now .. Like in jan 2012 planks contant came up you need to know thw theory vehind it to prove it .. I think this year the mothion experiment might come up or something to do with energy transfer .. Or an expeeiment to do with waves might come up

can some one please please teach me how to solve those euqations?
i do not study math and i really really suck and fractions and algebra.

for example, prove the given equation obeys y=mx+c.
questions like that. :/

Hi all, i'm doing this exam as well and i also need to know the 12 experiments. i think i know a few, please help me to list all of them, here's a few :

1- Measuring the young modulus for a material.
2- Investigating Stokes' law and calculating the coefficient of viscosity.
3- Investigating force-extension characteristics of a material.
4- Finding Plank's constant

Hey, i've got a question even if its a little silly.. How do you know for the best settings to use in a multimeter instrument, eg question 1 in May 2010 paper. If anyones kind enough to explain? Thanks! :smile:

I dont think Melde's experiment and the sonometer are so important but they are mentioned as suggested experiments in the specification.

you first calculate the current using V=IR
then select the scale which will seem not too big or too small

Eg. MAy 2010

V=IR
I=V/R
=3/110
=.027A
= 27mA

answers
1. 2000microAmp = 2mA too small as reading is larger
2. 20mA - too small as reading is larger
3.200mA - reading within the range most suitable
4.10A = 10000mA - reading within the range - but scale to large(not accurate)

Thanks anjelofernando, i think i quite get how the settings work.. its like a range whereby ur value should lie between? correct me if i'm wrong
