Psychology at Glasgow,Edinburgh,Strathclyde,Aberdeen & Heriot-Watt.
currently have ABCD(English,Modern Studies,French,Maths) due to extenuating circumstances. Doing Five highers in 6th year in order to convince them to give me a conditional.
Sorry if this isn't the best place to post this, most threads for this sort of thing are for English qualifications and this is the only Scottish thread I could find.
I recently decided to apply for Pharmacy at RGU and Strathclyde for 2012 although I don't really want to go to Strathclyde. With there only being two Unis who do Pharmacy in Scotland I'm a bit worried about entry and my grades/subjects. I can't go to England (due to finance) so I'm worried they'll look at my application and wonder why the first two choices are different to the last ones.
I got 3 As in Biology, Business Management and English at Higher with a B in Chemistry. I crashed Chemistry without doing the SG but I haven't taken it at AH so I'm quite worried that my B isn't enough? I know entry to RGU is AABB but I'm sure I'll be competing with people with a lot more than that. I'm predicted to get an A/B in Higher Maths, A Higher Psychology, A AH Biology and A AH English.
Not sure what else/where I'll apply to yet, probably something Biology related and hopefully Edinburgh/Aberdeen.
Again I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this. ^^;
Yay! Another pharmacy applicant! We are all over this thread. Woop.
Not sure about the chemistry, I know Strathclyde asks for an A in Chemistry but you don't really want to go there (neither do I) so it's not so bad. RGU doesn't specify an A in Chemistry though so if you've got a kick-ass PS I'm sure they wouldn't say no. And you've got the grades so don't panic yet, just as long as you get Higher Maths, since they ask for 2 other sciences.
Glasgow Strathclyde Edinburgh and another two still to be decided.
got AABBB at higher and am torn between glasgow and strathclyde... if i get offers.
Hey I got the same grades as you last year. Got conditional to Glasg and Strath (C in Adv H Chem frm both). Would say strath has the better dept (no disrespect to Glasg) Glasg has an amazing campus but the Strath and Ed depts are probably better. Good luck
So Nobody has any experience/knowledge of Herriot Watt?
I went to the open day last year and the campus is really nice, great place with the trees and parks etc, wouldnt recommend it if u are a city kind of person cos its quite far out of edinburgh, but does have buses every 5-10 mins

Thank you for your help.
Yeah I read up on the Strathclyde website and as far as I can tell if I got an A in Maths (as a key subject) I'd be okay, just a bit worrying that I don't already have the subject. Thankfully RGU doesn't seem as picky! Trying to get that PS right now so hopefully I'll get an offer.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Best of luck! PM me if you've got any other questions.
I got ABCCC in S5 and applying for Accountancy at:
Edinburgh Heriott-Watt Napier possibly Stirling.
Edinburgh is looking very unlikely but what are my chance of conditionals from the others? I do have a few contextual factors that apply to me.
Depending on the contextual factors you've got a fair chance. I knew someone who got ABCCC and got an unconditional to aberdeen so you could always try there? Glasgow also gave an unconditional to someone with ABB because of the school they went to. So it looks pretty hopeful
Glasgow Strathclyde Edinburgh and another two still to be decided.
got AABBB at higher and am torn between glasgow and strathclyde... if i get offers.
Me too! Are you applying to the basic chemistry course or the more specialised chem courses at Strathclyde? I'm opting for either Chem with Drug Disovery or Forensic and Analytical Chemistry
Not sure whether or not to apply to Glasgow for Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry...thinking of applying here for Genetics though
I didn't get the chance to go to the open days...did you?
I got ABBB, and I am more or less set on Stirling, but I'm applying to the others just to see what they offer!
Whoop I'm doing psychology aswell )
You may get an unconditional for Dundee aswell, their minimum entry requirements are ABBB.
Well I already applied last year and deffered it, I was predicted ABBB at higher and applied to: Edinburgh - (I withdrew) St Andrews - rejected Dundee - conditonal Calidonian - (I withdrew) Strathclyde - (I withdrew)
I for AAABC in the end
If you're wondering why I withdrew so many it is because I wanted to move away from home (I live in Glasgow), so my main choices were really Dundee and St Andrews, and since I got a big fat NO from them since my predicted grades were too low... Dundee was my next choice and I got a yes from them
AAABB in 5th year. Sitting both Adv Comp and Maths this year. Feasibly Glasgow and Strathclyde are the only 2 universities i could attend without living in the halls, which i don't plan on. Decided to try to hedge my bets by applying for 2 courses at the one uni, I've had to try to gear my PS towards both subjects - although they are both quite similarly related. I've got the grades for the quoted unconditional, i just hope I'm not going to be disadvantaged by my indecision.

Both Glasgow and Strathclyde have a system where you take 3 different subjects in your first year, then decide which to major in at the end of your second year. There's no benefit to applying to more than one course since either way you can do maths and computing together.
I'm applying for Computer Science at Strath/Edinb/Glasgow and St Andrews. With AAAAA, If I get into St Andrews I'm heading there but if not I'm very much undecided between the other 3 if I don't. =/
