Can someone check whether this is right? Mitochondria produce energy in the form of ATP.

say release energy in ATP but in exams they like these words when stating role of mitochondria " Aerobic Respiration" that would guarantee a mark

You might be better saying release energy in the exam but what you've said is basically right. Check the mark scheme for your exam to see how specific they want you to be
The most correct thing to say is that mitochondria produce ATP in order to release energy (as hydrolysing ATP releases energy) but if I remember correctly at AS you can say 'energy in the form of ATP', you can't at A2 (there is an entire energy module at A2 so you should know the difference by then)
It is the site of aerobic respiration
ATP production
It releases energy for the cell
It is involved in the Krebs cycle
Lipid synthesis
Protein synthesis
Oxidation of fats

Thats about all the roles

the mitochondria also have some affect on aging, but you won't need to know that, as its a recent theory:wink:

mitochondria are the "powerhouse" of organism in which ATP is producing all the time. They are support e.g. metabolizations in a certain degree. In so far you are right. Anything else what do you want?
