Apparently Occupy are now setting up a new camp outside the stock exchange. It is quite inexcusable selfishness really. What's everyone's views on the matter?

I've seen some ironic things in my time. This wins the final prize.
I agree with OP. It's nothing more than self-indulgence and the apogee of ego and self-promotion. Achieving nothing, but in the process causing filth, destruction, inconvenience and cost.

Absolutely top drawer! I'll just pack my Jimmy Choos and Versace and be right over, I'll get father to drive me over from my second house in Hampstead Heath tomorrow. It just makes me sick though, I want to get out there right away. ****ing bankers taking away wealth from the common people! In the meantime I'll be reading Lenin's great work 'What is to be done?' to prepare myself mentally for the great task we have ahead. In 10 years we'll be seen as the pioneers of a new dawn, so don't judge us now, you'll regret it! Down with capitalism! ANARCHY!!!!!
I think people would take them more seriously if they tried to 'create' something from their protests, or at least if they had some type of leadership...

Bahaha, I donate to charity and undertake voluntary work. Much much more than they are doing or ever will do. It is the last kicks of attention before they resign themselves to being forever unnoticed (as individuals and an organisation).
Good for them. Not that I agree with their solutions to the problem. But we are supposed to be a democratic society after all and not a conformist state.

and you think that is a sufficient contribution? How will that change the corrupt political system? Besides charities have become corrupted to the core - why? Because of capitalist greed. As for voluntary work, why do we need to rely on this? Why is society failing to support people? I think you need to ask yourself some questions rather than just make sweeping judgements.
What and living in a tent saying 'We hate bankers' is sufficient in your eyes? If they tried to get jobs or started small businesses, instead of being a burden on the economy by not contributing whatsoever and wasting government capital on policing and cleaning up after them...then it might be deemed a sufficient contribution.
Bankers worked pretty hard for their jobs. They didn't just waltz out of secondary school and into a six-figure salary. Not that the Occupy protestors would know, they're too busy sitting in tents trying to have other people's wealth removed.

Like I said before, ignorance is a terrible thing.
