Advancing Physics OCR spec B summer 2012 exams - how do you revise?

This syllabus is just SO BAD. I seriously can't find any good resources to use for revision. The text book is a failure and the revision guide has bits missing. What are you all using to revise?
Also, can someone give me a summary of what we need to know for the materials section?

Is nobody else doing this syllabus? The other threads seem to be thriving!
I don't blame the teachers for abandoning this syllabus tbh, it is a load of crap.

Here are some useful notes.

Here are past papers from 2011 and 2012. Ask your teacher for past papers before that!

Thanks! The text book is ****ing awful. One does not simply write a physics syllabus/text book that is one-tenth physics.
I can't find the January 2012 past papers though. Any help?
Are you doing this syllabus?

This is it! Enjoy. The book's pretty bad but that's not an excuse for doing bad. Do more past papers and revise the topics you know will come up.

Thanks for the link, but that is an A2 paper for the other syllabus! Do you know where I could find the Jan 12 papers for either AS module?
BUMP
Does anyone know where I can find the Jan 2012 papers for G491 and G492 for the advancing physics syllabus?

Believe me, I know how you feel.
I dropped physics despite enjoying the subject just because of OCR B.
I retook one of my AS modules to bring my grade up to a B, and these old spec papers helped me quite a bit, to try and understand the topics a bit more.
Just realised, the link for all the old spec papers has gone down - However try and do a few google seaches, might get lucky
These are papers for new spec, apart from june 11 and jan 12.

The CGP book for physics B is not too bad either, however that will probaly at max get you a C.
If I was you, I would just go through as many papers as possible, then go through them using the internet or the revision guide.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I shall quote you in another thread to bring your words of wisdom to others doing this syllabus.
I am also considering dropping the subject because of the fact that I can only study this syllabus (although I may switch colleges - can you switch exam board from AS to A2?).

I know a few people who have switched exam boards, however it is not as straight forward, you need a very proactive approach, in terms of ringing up and getting a lot more info - before you make your decision.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in any decision you make

As in phoning up the exam boards? I assume the one I would be switching to rather than the one I would be switching from.
I'll sort it all out after the exams finish anyway.
Thanks.

I don't have much idea on how the whole process works, but I suppose you would need some sort of communication between both exam boards.

Is the A2 any better than the AS? Is it worth carrying on with?

It's harder for sure, but carry on anyway. It's definitely an A-level worth having, even more so if you enjoy it.

It's more of the same really, the jump in difficulty isn't that big, it's certainly not maths anyway.

If you struggle with it, don't expect it to get better, but, like hughh20 said, it's a really good A-level if you can be bothered.
