Any current Bath students!

I love it So my opinion maybe slightly biased.
The place is lovely, although the Uni building's are not the prettiest, the actual city is lovely! Really pretty with its canal, river, abbey, Roman baths etc and 100's of parks! Very nice. There are also lots of quirky shops and a fair few things to do, especially when weather is good. And you can visit Bristol in 10mins on the train if you want to have a massive day shopping or something.
The night life, is obviously not like in big cities like London, Bristol etc, so if going out every night to massive clubs is important you might find this a draw back, but, there are a good few clubs and some student night on every night between the clubs in town and the one on uni, there are also loads of pubs! The club at Uni isn't the best, and most people head to town to go out after the first few months, but it's easy to get to town and back until like 3am on the buses so going out is fine. Also if you join a society, they normally do trips to Bristol once or twice a year and provide transport and entry to a club there, so that's good if you're really into clubbing. Also events like carnage etc are normally busy and good.

Ah although you say that's biased, it seems very honest! Yeah I come from London so I was scared it would be too much of a scene change! Like clubbing here, is obviously amazing lol but in all fairness, anywhere is good I guess depending on the crowd!
Ah I saw a bit of Bath when I came to visit, it is AMAZING. I love the idea of there being lots of parks and pubs and things like that! More sociable and summery rather than having trashy areas kind of thing. Don't get me wrong, I love clubbing but I must admit, it does get a bit grimy and dirty and it's not something I'd do every single night lol.
What are the people like there in general? I've been told by some that it's like a 'Made in Chelsea' type scene/people lol how true is that?
Also, I've applied for Woodland Court accom. Anything you know about that?

Well, I didn't originally choose bath, it was my insurance, but I have definitely grown to love in once I settled in I would recommend it.
Yea it depends on your friends really, I mean just pre-drinks etc can be good in themselves, and going on pub crawls.
There are a couple of clubs that are a bit grimy, mainly XL (the biggest one) but they are generally okay, especially Second bridge. There are about 4/5 main student clubs, but a few others too. I think the great thing is that I feel totally safe in bath, even at night. I mean I can't advise walking around by yourself at night! but I have always felt safe in most parts of the city, where as I wouldn't walk around Southampton (near where I live at home) at night by myself. I would imagine the clubs are slightly more expensive than some clubs in London, but bath is an expensive town and with not so much competition as other places they can charge more. I'd say you could easily go out once or twice a week though and wouldn't get bored, and after 1st year, if you went out more than that you probably wouldn't have time to do enough work!
Yes it's very much like that, there are nice walks, and the campus is nice to walk around too, and we often sit in parks when the weather is nice and have bbq's, cook together, things like that. Campus has a lovely feel in summer, with everyone sat around the lake, and everything you need is up there
It obviously depends what your friends are like though and who you make friends with. It is a small Uni though, but there are still loads of people to meet, and I like the fact it's slightly smaller than others. However it is being expanded soon, so there may be some building work going on if you went to bath, although that's similar with most Uni's I guess.
I wouldn't personally say there is much of that, not amongst my friends anyway. There are a fair number of students from private school, but it's not very obvious that that is the case really. Most people are down to earth and nice. There's obviously groups of students always working, and groups who maybe go out a little too often but most people are nice. People are always a bit crazy in freshers, but generally calm down a little later. There maybe a little amongst some sport teams I guess, but not really.
I had one friend who lived in Woodland Court last year. She didn't like it much, due to her particular flatmates as she was quite shy so didn't bond well with them early on. The actual accommodation is fine though, very new, some see the large numbers in each flat as a draw back though, but others seem to think it's positive as you're very likely to find some people you get on well with. They try to put at least one other person taking your course in your flat. There is a little bit of a "oh you live in Woodland Court, you must be posh" sorta thing at the start, but it's really just banter! The rooms seem nice from the ones I've seen. You could of picked worse accommodation for sure, it's in a nice position

This is helping so much! Ah that was something I was scared of, quite a lot of people have said that for some reason the people in Woodland Court tend to be... Difficult to socialise with. My parents really wanted me to put Woodland Court so I went along with it but I'm starting to regret the choice! LOL.

Is it true the weather tends to be better there?

To be honest, accommodation seems to be a bit of pot luck anyway, as in quite a lot of people don't get there first choice I think, so you might not end up there. I'm assuming they still sort out accommodation allocation after results day? but honestly, most people love wherever they end up living
Er the weather here is similar to where I live at home, but it's not bad really. I doubt you'll notice much difference but there might be slightly less rain/snow. The campus, where it is so far up, is colder than the town centre though, and often very windy! When it looks sunny I always forget, then get up to campus and freeze!

Oh really?! I don't know why, I assumed it'd be much hotter. I think I forget that I'm only going 2 1/2 away and not to another country LOL.

By any chance can u help me out with this..... since I'm coming to Bath for my BBA this Sept. my parents will join me and I was wondering do u know any good bed and breakfasts arnd the university as my parents are going to be staying for approx. 5 days so dont want to stay in hotel as it would become very expensive???

Awesome I do social sciences... so same department And everyone in the department has the same 1st year, and some of the same modules after that, so I have a good idea what your course is like if you have any questions about that. It's pretty good though, some great lecturers



Erm I haven't actually stayed in any of the b&b's in bath :/ It's pretty expensive. Depending on when they want to stay you might want to stay at the University ( https://www.bath.ac.uk/hospitality/beds/index.html ) as sometimes some of the rooms are cheap, especially out of term times. Also there are some budget hotels around like Travel Lodge. Er but I don't actually know if any b&b's. If your parents will have a car to drive when here then it will be a lot cheaper for them to be somewhere a bit of a way outside bath.
Also, don't want to sound horrible, but if you're moving in during freshers week, I would advise that your parents don't stay with you for all of it - there will be lots for you to do and it's your main opportunity to make friends. Having parents around may limit what opportunities you have, especially if they expect you to spend a lot of the time with them.
