OCR Decision 1 - 24 May 2012

Hello,

I couldn't find a thread for this exam. So I started one, Does anyone have any tips for this exam?

By the way, it will also help everyone taking this exam, if someone could upload the jan 2012 paper.

If a simplex has only negative values or 0s in the column that has the most negative value in the objective function row, ignore it and use the next most negative value in the objective function row as the pivot column and work out the pivot element like normal from there.

Superemely hard.. well not hard but just too different from what they set previously like the first qs had me thinking for ages, but ran out of time big time generally :eek: worst paper i have seen considering all the past papers..
It wasn't a nice paper, there were some questions in it that were ridiculously time-consuming, such as the algorithm question, and the simplex was worth surprisingly few marks. However, I didn't find the paper too bad, I quite liked it, but almost everyone else I talked to after said how bad it was and that they'd dropped 10+ marks from missed questions, and the school I'm at is ranked very highly and we specialise in maths, so it's probably very likely the grade boundaries will be very very low.

i also ran out of tym... specially on the last questions, i spent too much...

I've actually failed in style.
If anyone wants me to try to explain any of the questions I'd be happy to help
I didn't think it was too great either, but I felt a lot better when I actually looked at the amount of marks that I didn't get for questions I left out and realised it was only 2/3 :P The last question was an annoying question to do under time pressure so I'm sure I dropped some marks there too :P I'm pretty sure the boundaries will be pretty low, not many people at my school finished, and they're all amazing at maths... does Mr M do D1 unofficial mark schemes?? Hope it all went okay for others
Do we want to start an unofficial mark scheme?
That was possibly the hardest D1 i have ever taken?

Low grade boundries i hope
I'll put down my answers in an unoffical mark scheme if people remind me of the questions, I really can't remember them tbh :L
