I got 53.58 in my 2nd year. Can I still get a 2:1?

My 2nd year is worth 30%
3rd year is worth 10%
4th year is worth 60%

(I'm doing languages so that's why I have 4 years).

Let's say I got 60% in 3rd year and 63%, would I make it?

Is there a formula to work these things out?

Just realised that there's no way 60 and 63 would give me a 2:1 at the end of it.

Mathematically yes you can.

Found out my answer.

If you're studying a maths degree ... From the way its lookimg, I'd say no.

Lets pretend that you'll get 60 in 3rd year, so that we can ignore that year.

2nd year, you got 6.42% off 60%.

4th year is worth twice as much as 2nd year so if you get 63.21%* in 4th year, you will get 60% overall

* 63.21 = 60 + (6.42/2)

If it's any consolation I missed a 2.1 by 1% in my second year (worth 30%) and have just graduated with a first x

Depends on uni and course. I do economics and at my uni if you get 59% overall in third year they will round it to 60% only if you get 60% or higher in 80 credits out of 120 credits.

Yes this is pretty much what happened to me!

I bombed 40 credits worth and it was a department-wide issue with that module, it dragged me down by 10%, as I was averaging 69% without it. Because the board of studies were made aware of the issue several times, the department refused to release my exam papers for them to review, etc etc when it came to my final grade calculation they removed it from their calculation. I now have a piece of paper to accompany my transcript stating this!

It would give you about 59.9 so, if your university rounds marks to the nearest whole number, then yes it will give you a 2:1. But aim for around 65+ in both years.

With your figures you will scrape one on rounding up (you'll score 59.87).

Don't you know how to do percentages? The mind boggles.

53.58*0.3 + third year score*0.1 + fourth year score*0.6
