Hehe... radicals and reactive intermediates for O1 on Friday, reaction dynamics next Wednesday, vib spec for I1 next Thursday and peptides for O2 at some point next week. Thankfully, vib spec is awesomely easy

Do you remember when you got the results from A+H?
Reply 261
It took about 3-4 weeks, I think.

Also, I take back the comment about vib spec being easy. Trying to work out the vibrations of an octahedral complex is nasty.

Yeah, the computer one's about a 30-40 minute sign off. We surprised him by doing it in about 2nd week of Michaelmas.

I guess you've only got one 3rd year stint to do (assuming you did a supp?) - I suppose inorganic's probably the easiest choice.

He was absolutely amazed when I got it signed off this morning. Apparently im the first 2nd year ever to get it signed off.

.

Did you go to watch the ferret torture film in the end? It was... squirm-inducing. Urgh.
Anyway, if not, good news - pharm of gastric acid's not in the exam any more:
Rescheduled Lecuture
Wk 8 Thurs, March 12 5pm Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism - Rakovic

Cancelled Lecture
Pharmacology of gastric acid secretion - Galione (CANCELLED)
You will not be responsible for this material on the exam

I didn't.....in the end I was quite in the right fram of mind to go see what had been described numerous times (by him) as a "ferret snuff movie" :p:

And that's really annoying......I just started trying to learn the gastric acid secretion stuff. Curses. 8.5 days.....how much work/of what sort have you done for it?
I really just want to sit A+H now. Im bored and learnt it all

I keep on forgetting random bits of biology I should really know for pharma which is one of the main problems....that and the fact that the lectures don't quite cover everything and I currently have the attention span of a small flea with ADHD on cocaine.
What are you going to do with yourself for the next week? Have.........fun?!?!?!?!

:banghead:

Bloody reaction dynamics. It'll kill me, I swear.

Might do my vac work while keeping up a little revision

And carry on praying the paper is as easy as it normally is.

From what I hear, as of next year, they're planning on ramping up the difficulty and the quantity for Ar/Het, because the number of distinctions is too high

Horrible tute. Thankfully I've finished all phys ever

I do have 4 organic tutes/classes next week though...

Four?! Just for organic? That's mad! That said, we've still got to sort out all of our O2 teaching for next term - that'll probably be three tutes, then I imagine we'll probably do asymmetric synth as well, on top of general revision. Next term is going to be organic-heavy

Well, our tutor is very... keen

Not that she has pidged us the work yet mind, so I don't know how she expects us to do it. I can't even do notes as she has my lecture notes to set the work. I'll just have to have a lazy night :woo:

Why did I sign up for her as a supervisor :s-smilie:

We were lucky... Rachel decided that eighth week would be a bad time for a peptides tute, so 0th it is

Sorry about delay, I'm trying to stay logged off as long as possible at the mo' to stop myself wasting time (pathetically, I think the longest I've managed in the last year is like 2 days...).

One of the peopl I know who did the option before said Prof.Ch compared watching the video as opposed to actually doing the vivisection/exp was along the same sort of lines as watching porn instead of actually having sex yourself. I hope this puts you off Ch!

I've not done an awful lot, looked over a couple of the many lectures I failed to go to on weblearn. Bit disturbed that they're not all up there...Swear some have disappeared. If you look at the only papers in the present format (last year & the one before), quite a few of the Qs are actually exactly replicated, so trying to learn the worked answers exam paper. Dunno if they'll completely turn it about and use completely different Qs this year tho. I'm just kind of looking through the slides trying to figure out, then remember, the bits that you could do questions on.

P.S. Yes! about the gastric acid - I'd just started looking at it on Fri morning.

P.P.S. I've not properly read through the main chat thread yet, but I hope you're okay as poss, the last post of yours sounded troubled. If there is anything I can do at all - food you need brought to college or whatever at all, I would offer pharm help except I reckon I'm more lost than you, but do let me know. Not that long know until you'll be post Mon 9th & work will be ended :hugs:

You should have done a+h. Im struggling to manage enough to find enough to do to keep me occupied.
If I had the chance again to choose between a chemistry degree or doing this guy, I might consider the latter option, really.

Yes, but this would have involved doing something resembling Organic Chemistry. NEVER AGAIN!
