I hate students/student culture!

I am thankful no anarchists share my flat with me. What really annoys me is when someone doesn't understand how tuition fees work. There's no such thing as not being able to afford fees.

Here's to hoping that the government doesn't change it's mind as to when it wants that 30,000 back.

You can't generalise an entire social class in that way. There may be some middle class people who behave in that way, but to say it's 'middle class tendencies' is silly. Their social class does not dictate to how they will behave as there are 'good' and 'bad' people in all socioeconomic groups.

Do you actually know any middle class people? Or do you just rely on the stereotypical image portrayed by the OP?

So says the one that calls people plebs. (which is hysterical)

Of course I know middle class people. They're just darlings.

You're so intelligent for detecting my sarcasm, bravo.

So if you know those middle class people, surely you will realise they're not all like that?

Some working class people I know are what one would call a 'chav', but they're not all like that.

Bonged.: -1 point.

Is that sarcasm?

Well of course, just that those traits are more common amongst the middle class.

As are some middle class people I know! :dunce:

He counts?!?

Which of the ancient roman patrician families do you hail from, out of interest?

Neggers at the ready!

You never fail to annoy me. Seriously calm the **** down. Yes I know you're from a boring town and support a dire football team but stop acting like a spaz!

Firstly why do you act like a pretentious douche? Seriously stop trying to be sophisticated with your opinions and taking moral high ground with your rants. Sorry but you're Manc not somebody important! Your opinions should not automatically be listened to.

Stop acting and whining like you're really annoyed when in reality you really don't care and you're getting all keyboard worry on us

Stop trying to rant about things when you're only doing it for attention. You spend more time getting attention, acting 'rebellious' against the system when you do nothing for society but stir it uo. Face it you do NOTHING for the society.

You are not a celebrity. Stop acting like satirical celebrities like Charlie Brooker or David Mitchell. These people are intelligent. Stop imitating them to gain popularity.

Stop being a hipster. Dubstep is hardly being murdered because more people are listening to it. If it is as good as you claim, why are you annoyed more people are listening to it? Please think for yourselves and stop trying to be a hipster like everyone is these days.

Why should people Stop wearing vintage, chinos, toms, Ugg, uni hoodies, beanies, anything from topman, Jack wills etc . You don't know if they are all trying to be different but the likelihood is, they are not.

Just because you're a Manc doesn't mean you can say whatever you please. Shouting and screaming at 11pm when there are people trying the sleep! Stop littering forums with your rants and empty threats (lol). Stop swearing in front of kids who frequent this forum and talking about society thinking its funny. Seriously you would hate it if I did that in your own city on your mum's street.

Also why do you care if people are taking photos EVERYWHERE just to post on Facebook? The only reason you go on Facebook is to look at girls' holiday photos so give them some slack. Seriously stop assuming people are being insecure about their 'social lives' and just maybe, they are just having fun taking the photos.. All of your rants sound the same anyway and noone really cares! Also what is it with these attention seeking posts as if the world is hanging on your every sentence!

Jog on you boring oaf

Cannot rep you high enough.
I agree. Asinine little cocks with dire taste in music and alcohol. The estuary english drivel you hear in the union is mind numbing.

If they're kept amused by awful student nights blasting diarrhoea out of the speakers and £1 WKD then fine, but they need to accept that other people don't enjoy that. What are those purple beers all about as well? If you can't handle the taste then you're not mature enough to drink the stuff.

True some of those are true for some students. But you have made massive generalisations. And some of the things you said are done ironically for example a I know lot of people who watch Take Me Out and know its trash TV but its still fun to watch.
A lot of students are poor even before they were students, they came from low income families so uni is a bit of a struggle but still a good experience.
The ironic thing though is you are essentially acting like those hipsters who you dislike with your lame 'stop joining the dubstep bandwagon'

Wow, a student forum is CLEARLY the best place for you to spend your time then...

Stop acting and whining like you're poor when you have just spent thousands on your degree and you come from a middle class family from the posh suburbs.

I agree with most things except this. A lot of students are not from posh suburbs, and most students definitely didn't spend thousands on their degree before joining the university. Students borrow a loan which they don't have to pay back if they earn under £21000, and the debt gets wiped out after 30 years.

Why do you cause so much havoc on here were all ether college or uni students on here. This was never going to go down well on tsr:smile:

This passage from the OP reminds me of KONY. Half the people spamming this junk know nothing of the long-standing political instability in west and and central Africa, much of it brought on by destabilising acts of exploitation carried out by western governments and multinational corporations. You think donating money to a charity is suddenly going to put a band aid over the deeper issues that open a chasm which people like Joseph Kony come to fill? Who donates money? Students donate money?!
It the sheer ignorance and "feel good" righteous indignation that gets me.There are many Joseph Konys kicking about in Africa; Rwanda, Sierra Leone, the atrocities that took place in these locales (whilst the rest of the world averted their eyes) is just one of the many examples of the deep rooted problems on the African sub-continent, problems such as infrastructural instability, corrupt governments, economic exploitation, etc... You don't say?!
The solution isn't going to come about by giving money to an opportunistic charity. If you have the solution, tells us what it is! Let's end this together...
And quite frankly, I feel that the complete lack of education and knowledge that people have about these issues, makes the hypocrisy of the "KONY fad" all the more annoying. The method of sahring info on FB, which you despise, could possibly make more people aware of the issue and also make people want to know more and look for more info.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem. Now, this is when the things starts to sound creepy. Anyway, so... you are part of the problem... How naughty.
So either acknowledge this and go on with your day, or at least champion a cause that actually makes a difference, Who are you to say this cause doesn't make a difference?
though that would require that people actually sat down and learnt what the problem is in the first place. But nooo, we'll just tweet it Twitter, and spam Facebook and youtube to see how many "likes" we can get. Sometimes I despair at humanity. I have facebook since 2006 and no one has ever spammed my wall... Anyway, I would like to:
a) Know what is that your doing to help humanity that makes you so special, share with us, we could all be doing the same thing!
b) who do you think you are to label people like that, you don't even know what you are talking about! I don't think people believe they can change the world, but by spreading the word, you may make someone that has the power to do something to consider doing something... Have you ever heard about awareness? In my opinion FB is a cool way to raise awareness because it is simple, convienient and it certainly is more useuful to do so than posting random things about our personal life. Just my opinion though!

You are generalising just as bad as the op, but at least he did it in a funny way.

My answers in green.

Please learn to quote properly; it makes responding counterproductive otherwise.

I would bother with a more thorough response to some of your rather trivial answers, such as, "You don't say", but here, the article below actually beat me to the punch. It has summarised all the points regarding my apprehensions to this campaign.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/mar/08/kony-2012-campaign-oprah-and-bracelets?intcmp=239

If you need more information as to why buying bracelets and an action pack, along with signing a pledge then going on your merry way, won't solve or even put a dent in Uganda's problems, then read Dead Aid by Dambisa Moyo. This and other are the type of books meant to educate people on how to help, if they actually want to, and aren't just in it for the "like". Btw, look how fast people have forgotten the campaign. It's almost as if it never happened. Yeah, Facebook raises awareness indeed

Anyway, if people actually knew what was plaguing Uganda and other countries in Africa, they'd divert their energy to things like pressuring their governments to make trade fair, stop selling goods back to African nations at value-added prices, stop forcing nations to devote vast portions of their land to growing cash crops, whilst not having enough to grow essential food crops to feed their population, stop allowing multinational corporations to enter into these countries and completely destroy much of the infrastructure and land (and African governments share the blame on this one) with impunity, whilst galvanising political strife and economically-motivated rebellion from the disgruntled populations. Google: Wiwa v. Royal Dutch Petroleum Company. So in answer to your question of what I would recommend, those are just a few of many possible suggestions, ones which far surpass the efficacy of what is being tooted by Invisible Children. And people don't need to be very educated to know these things, if they wasted more than a minute looking them up.

On the other hand, Invisible Children doesn't even have a recommendation or solution behind their campaign. For one, they advocate an increase in US military presence in Uganda. Oh joy! Just what Uganda needs, more American interference, because America is known for their altruistic and non-agenda driven interventions. And how convenient that this campaign comes at a time when Uganda's oil resources are being unearthed and mined, something that could potentially increase the wealth of the country...or give US another country to invade under the pretext of altruism. Sadly, I'm sceptical by nature, and the coincidences and specious claims surrounding this campaign are no exception. You and others can feel free to disagree, but history shows us that these things have never panned out well. Africa has been under a perpetual state of strife for decades, people have known about this, yet not one intervention to date has been largely effective in alleviating this condition and more importantly, non exploitative when carried out by Western nations.

As for your question regarding what I'm doing to better humanity; absolutely nothing...at least nothing that I care to make noise or tweet about. I suppose this publicly makes me a bad person as such, but I'm perfectly comfortable with being a bad egg. Much better being perceived as bad, than abide by the hypocrisy of trendy humanitarianism.

Are you not a student yourself? You wouldn't struggle to get a masters in misanthropy
you wouldn't last long in our flat... :P
Wow you sure like stereotyping!

I hated students even when I was, the vast majority of them gave lived their lives wrapped in cotton wool, they are champagne socialists who have no worldy experiences to form their ignorant self righteous opinions. And most of the students on this forum I would'nt piss on if they were on fire
