Could we have a Sandbox?

Just like Wikipedia so that users can test things, as well as isolating some typically formatted sections so that the relative newcomers can try and figure out the Wiki markup without fear of breaking much.

We do have one already: http://thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/Met...eimg" />andbox

Though I think it perhaps needs some 'advertising' elsewhere on the wiki to let people know it's there

Thanks for bringing this up

I've taken the list across to the main wish/development list thread in the mods forum.

..there is a semi suitable way of getting around it in some cases.

If an image is only used on one page or if an image is used on multiple pages which all should link to the same place, then we can simply turn the images own page in to a redirect page (as done here on the dev site: http://tsrdev.thestudentroom.co.uk/w...&redirect=n o )

Go to any page the image is on, click on that image and you now get taken to the revision notes page over there.

A way to potentially get around cases where an image used of different pages needs to link to different places would have to be to upload multiple versions of the image and only use each one once...though this is far from ideal.

But I do think that in some circumstances making the images pages 'redirects' might be a good thing to do
