Default Dear Microsoft;

Damn you.
They've finally taken it a step to far.
You can now no longer send links over MSN.

Log out and back in and you'll find whenever you send a link it will say;
The following message could not be delivered to all recipients:
https://www.districtlines.com/4248-B...irt/Tay-Zonday

It's beyond annoying. It's not only me getting it as well, spoke to quite a few people who are seeing the same :'(

Annoying. I guess you could just take out the http://www. part of it; the person you send it to will know to add them back in, and that'd probably stop MSN seeing it as a hyperlink to be blocked.

Just patch it, you can remove all the adverts, gleams, animations and general other rubbish at the same time.

Strange, about 3 hours ago I was sent some links by someone...although admittedly each time I tried to click them msn crashed, I'd just assumed it was my computer playing up.

Will this work in this case? Surely the messages are blocked at the server (no client update)

Edit: Confirm - "The filter is on the server of course, as I use Pidgin for IM" http://blogoscoped.com/forum/134421.html

'Cos idiots click links without checking where they go. So it's a great way to send malware around.

My brother is one of them. Even after it had happened to him, he still couldn't grasp the fact that the machine on the other end might not in fact be his friend, but a piece of malware acting on its own accord, nor that a link that says www.coolpictureifound.com or whatever might actually lead somewhere else.

Simplest solution from MS's PoV is to stop ppl sending links at all....

They had an problem with blocking certain links a few weeks back which turned out to be a problem with the partner they work with for blocking dangerous links. So it could just be another problem like this rather than them blocking them for good.

"Hey is that really you in this picture?

http://www.thispicture.info?pic=youraddress@email.com "

Really gets annoying so it stops the spam and spread of malware (as a poster said above me).

Would it though, according to the people who have already posted it blocks anything with 'www' so using either a subdomain or just http://site.com would get through, wouldn't it?

Granted, those malwares are annoying. My sister has got it twice, the first time I calmly removed it after much googling and told her not to be so gullible, the second time I scoffed and said it's a pretty obvious trick, and she yelled at me

But couldn't they just patch their bloody piece of software so this malware doesn't work? Of course, it's possible that they are going to patch it, but in the meantime they're blocking links.
