TSR Conservative:

We, the TSR Conservatives, pledge to protect Civil Liberties, to uphold Justice and to make our tax system fairer.

• Is being filmed 24/7 by CCTV acceptable? Is the government having your whole life stored on a their central databases safe? Is excessive government intervention in your lives fair?

No, we don’t think so either. Voting Tory will ensure your liberties are protected. We opposed a Socialist bill encroaching religious freedoms, and we will continue to oppose such intervention. We also defeated a Liberal Democrat bill which attempted to control free enterprise.

• When a convicted murderer is released early for good behaviour or a death by dangerous driving conviction only carries an eighteen month sentence, do you feel our justice system is working?

We too are disgusted by these injustices. Voting Tory ensures that the sentence fits the crime and that a great many more offenders are convicted. We presented a bill last session to create 12,000 more Police Officers by changing the job descriptions of PCSOs, a simple but effective way of cutting crime.

• When you fail to see public sector improvement despite spending having risen, do you think you have received value for money?

No, we certainly don’t. A Conservative government will reorganise national finances. Since 1997 average per-household tax has risen by a staggering £6520. Despite this, the NHS is £50 billion in debt. We will ensure that your money is well spent.

Vote for Freedom.
Vote for Justice.
Vote for Prudence.

VOTE CONSERVATIVE

TSR Labour:

The TSR Labour Party is a democratic socialist party which takes pride in considering itself further left of the politics that New Labour advocates today. TSR Labour will work hard to create a society in which every child has fair and equal access to high standards of healthcare, education and local government services. Regardless of background, every person in a TSR Labour society is valuable and will be supported by the government.

We believe in:
 • Equality.
 • An Education system where wealth wont influence the quality of your learning.
 • A Healthcare system where the NHS will be able to provide the drugs you need.
 • A society that protects your human rights.
Our focus this term will be on social reform. With the economic climate becoming evermore unpredictable, we will introduce bills to keep the people's money safe. We also want to make this society a fairer one and make sure that money problems are not a barrier for students trying to enter further and higher education. If elected, we will:
 • Introduce a national pension plan with government underwriting.
 • Vet all private pension plans to ensure they are securely underwritten.
 • Re-asses the EMA system to make sure it is getting to everyone who needs it.
 • Put a threshold on the amounts drug companies can charge the NHS.
 • Create a new badge parking scheme to allow those who are temporarily disabled to receive parking concessions.

If you share our beliefs and our vision for the future, vote TSR Labour!

TSR Liberal Democrats:

It's time for change in Britain, let's Make It Happen together -
Vote Liberal Democrat

The Lib Dems offer real solutions to the problems you face everyday.

Lower taxes for ordinary people, a greener, sustainable future, good public services and a free and fair society for all are just the beginnings of a better Britain.

We have a range of policies to help kickstart the economy and to create social justice in the UK:
 • Tax polluters and cut income tax to make it cheaper to go green
 • Force companies to use windfall profits to cut fuel bills
 • End government waste and use the money to cut taxes for small businesses
 • Ending the surveilance state to pay for real policing
 • Affordable university and college for all
 • End post office closures
 • End prescription charges
 • Give local people a say in how offenders are punished

Vote Lib Dem for real change. The Tories are not interested in making the fairer, green society we need, and Labour are finished. The Lib Dems are the only party who can put Britain back on track.

Use your vote, join us and together we can Make It Happen.

TSR Libertarian Party:
Bills we have passed include:

- Abolishing ID Cards
- Abolishing the Inheritance Tax
- Repealing Incitement to religious hatred legislation
- Maintaining a history of environmental legislation.
- Repealing parts of the smoking ban.
- Making euthanasia legislation more lenient.
- Making legislation surrounding brothels more lenient.

We Stress that we are also the only party promoting what would be regarded as traditional Tory values, especially with regards to the economy and a more responsible society.

Education:
We advocate incorporating a government funded ‘voucher system’ to combat Britain’s failing school system and encourage competition between schools.

Economy:
Liberalise planning regulations
Free up markets currently obstructed by unnecessary regulation

Environment:
Massive incentives and tax breaks for cleaner energy

Taxation:
A much Lower and more simplified tax system, fostering a much freer economy.

Crime, Law and Order, Terrorism:
Repeal legalisation criminalising cannabis.
Cutting down on speed cameras/speeding legislation etc

Freedom Of Speech:
Absolute freedom of speech, except with incitement to murder or imminent violence

Foreign Policy:
Committed to nuclear arsenal
Generally mind our own business and sort our own problems out
In support of a stronger, more proactive UN.

Healthcare:
A functional NHS
A pledge to keep NHS care free at the point of use

Immigration:
New points system
Should reflect the economic needs of the UK

Social Security:
Encourage people to take jobs if they are available by removing benefits for those who refuse.
Where people DO get the benefit - they are forced to do community work for it or some form of socially beneficial work.

TSR Monster Raving Loony Party:

The TSR Monster Raving Loony Party-improving this crazy isle while making everyone smile.

In the current economic crisis, we aim to make everyday life easier. We will introduce new product standards to ensure all sofas will be designed without any possibility that money can fall down the back, thus saving money for ordinary Britons. The Loonies propose that a minimum requirement of GCSE Maths for all government ministers and treasury advisers, thereby preventing two different rates of inflation when used to calculate raises in both state benefits and taxes. National Insurance will now include a no-claims discount. However, we acknowledge the economic danger has been somewhat exaggerated, and we will outlaw the use of the term “credit crunch”, instead promoting use of the more appropriate “credit nibble”. We also intend to reduce spending on de-fence and spend more on de-gate and de-garden.

As always, the Monster Raving Loony Party aims to cut bureaucracy and promote common sense in government. We will replace the House of Lords with the House of Cards, to make it easier for the Government to deal with. The Speaker of the House of Commons will be replaced by the latest audio equipment.

And, of course, we wouldn’t be the craziest party in politics, if we didn’t believe in making politics a little more fun. Indeed, we intend to enforce the Trade Description Act to ensure political parties throw regular shindigs, soirees and selebrations.

Vote Monster Raving Loony –The sensible choice in the crazy world of politics.

TSR Socialists:

Fighting for Compassion and Equality

We are the TSR Socialist Party. We are the party that fights for the rights of the people over the rights of the banks and the corporations; the many over the few.
In today's economic and political climate government has a bigger role to play than ever. The Socialist party will rectify the capitalist faults that cause misery for millions. We will be the party of the people, not the party of the banks. Government has to provide essential support and services to those worse off in our society, the Socialist Party has been active in defending these rights in everything we have done. We are one of the few parties to concentrate on social matters, in particular Education. We have proposed two major reforms in this area this session: that every school should have an NHS counsellor and that religious indoctrination of minors should be banned. We pledge to continue to reform health, social support, education and transport in ways to ease the burden on working families.
We have been arguably the most active party this session, and decried the inactivity of the government, calling the Vote of no Confidence before the election was called. It has been rightly said that we are the only truly left wing party in the House of Commons, and as a result we are diverse in our membership and outlook. A vote for us is a vote for justice, equality and fairness, a vote for society and a vote for the people.

Independent MP's:

Birchington:

Hi. I’m Birchington and I am running for election to the TSR House of Commons. I’ve chosen to stand as an independent candidate and you may well be asking yourself why I have taken this approach.

In the TSR Parliament I wish to represent my views and beliefs, but also those of the people who I will represent. Being a member of a party does not give the freedom to do this and without an overall party line to follow, I will have freedom to negotiate legislation and avoid conflicting party politics.

SO, enough talking: What can I promise you?
In short, not a lot. What is important is what you can demand of me. Give me your policy ideas and input and I'll try to represent them in the Parliament. I represent you, not some faceless party with it’s own interests.

What are my beliefs?
I'm broadly pro-Europe and something of a social democrat. I believe in a liberal market economy with sufficient government intervention to ensure that everyone benefits from the wealth created by the British economy. I also support controlled immigration and believe in the ideals of the NHS and national school system, as well as supporting an improved railway network.

What if I have my own concerns?
Feel free to PM me before, during or after the election with your concerns. At the moment I can't guarantee a reply due to my exams, but I will endeavour to do my best. Happy voting!

Big up the Socialists. Feel free to ask us anything you want in this thread.

The TSR Socialists are today announcing a major new policy plank for the next parliamentary session.

Studies have proven that child nutrition between the ages of 3 and 7 is absolutely crucial to development. At later ages, concentration increases, child obesity lowers and the general health of the population is improved when children have access to free, healthy meals.

To that end, the TSR Socialists will introduce sweeping new measures to provide free school meals to all children in the United Kingdom during the next parliamentary term.
Vote TSR Socialist!

VOTE SOCIALIST

(((I object to the order in which the manifestos appear. If they're going to be alphabetised, Birchington's should be first. Really, though, they should be randomised. It's completely unfair. I also object to the ridiculous way our manifesto is laid out, although I guess I'll have to pick that bone elsewhere. Perhaps we could at least have proper paragraph breaks?)))

Now onto the shoddy works of the other parties.

I really must take issue with Conservative party lie-fest. It really does take some beating. Most hilariously:

CIVIL LIBETIES?! Are you taking the piss? This from the party which didn't just suggest 42 days pre-charge detention, this from the party which didn’t just suggest locking innocent people up for 90 days; no, this from the party which suggested INDEFINITE detention without trial.

Civil liberties? UniOfLife needs a dictionary.

While he’s looking up “freedom”, he can try to figure out what a political party is. Did you know that the Conservative party only has policies at election time and when it’s in government? That’s probably why they’re the ONLY party to have refused to start a thread where they can be questioned on their policies. The Socialist party question thread is the most active place of debate in the HoC.

As for the frankly libel attack on the Socialist Party, perhaps some facts would help. The Religious Indoctrination Act is designed to protect the philosophical (and therefore, religious) freedom of our young people. It prevents schools from imposing theistic propaganda on children. It gives them a right to decide for themselves.

Maybe Civil Liberties are different from civil liberties. Maybe civil liberties are the unalienable rights people have that can't be encroached upoon by the state, while Civil Liberties is a warped Tory concept used to advance their own far right agenda.

No, we certainly don’t. A Conservative government will reorganise national finances. Since 1997 average per-household tax has risen by a staggering £6520. Despite this, the NHS is £50 billion in debt. We will ensure that your money is well spent.

Funny how the TSR Conservative party is all of a sudden interested in RL politics, and particularly what has happened since 1997. Funny especially since your leader is always so clear that sharing a name and logo with the RL Conservative party is purely incidental.

But nevermind. You want the Conservative party's economic record? You can have it. Black looks good on you. Especially on a Wedneday. A vote for the Tories is a vote for 15% interest rates!

And yet you don't support the NHS.

***

As usual the New Labour wannabes are full of vague, empty promises. What exactly did you accomplish last term. You believe in equality, eh? So, what exactly did you do about it? Worst party on TSR and not remotely left wing or progressive. They want your vote - nothing else.

***

The Lib Dems still exist? News to me. They didn't even support us when we tried to reduce pre-charge detention. Liberal my arse.

***

I won't bother commenting on the two joke parties. :p

This election is a choice between the far right agenda of UoL and the liberal equality of the Socialist party. Or you can waste your vote on empty promises elsewhere.

There. I've put it in a link to the Religious Indoctrination Act. Now people can decide for themselves what it does. I'm pretty sure that anyone who reads it will come very swiftly to the conclusion that it expands civil liberties.

This is libel.

We do not advocating people because of their religious beliefs. We advocate arresting them for forcing their beliefs on children who ddo not wish it on them.

How, pray tell, is taking away the freedom of expression concerning religion expanding civil liberties?

And as I said, how is taking away the rights of doctors to work where they want and how they want for civil liberties?

All this talk of civil liberties from you, despite your party's atrocious track record on the matter.

You sir are an utter hypocrite.

Welcome back Grape, perfect timing

And I must say it's certainly very gratifying that you find me such a potent political thread that your first post upon return is to attack me personally.

But just to correct you the Act succesfully put forward by the TSR Conservative Party placed a maximum limit of 28 days on the pre-charge detention of terror suspects and crucially put in place strict judicial oversight. For those interested in the details the Act is here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=624784. I'm not sure your party who voted against imposing strict, independent, judicial oversight on the detention of terror suspects can claim to support Civil Liberties. If you had your way the police would be able to arrest someone on terrorism charges and keep him in prison for a month without him ever appearing before a judge. It was the TSR Conservatives who ensured that the innocent man must be brought before a panel of judges at least once a week and the police must make their case for continuing to detain him.

I'm sure there will be more later.

Just two messages for everyone:

1) Visit the TSR House of Commons: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=102
2) Vote for TSR Conservatives woo!
