Universities and engineering grads employment prospects.
I was under the impression that being an engineering graduate was a key in itself to being (almost) guaranteed employable within the industry, regardless of the institute were credentials were gained (providing course is approved etc).

The problem I have is that my predicted grades have gained me a place at an 'AAB' uni to study civ eng, however I am set on a uni with a lower entry req of 'BBC'..

Is it crazy to go to what people would assume is a 'lesser' uni? Is it going to affect my employability?

It is kind of obvious that the AAB uni will provide better learning environment than the BBC uni. Nevertheless, if you wont feel alright somewhere yu must not go because chances are you will drop ot. A BBC uni could be say Swansea (I think it was BBC) which is still very good for engineering so I guessyou wont be reall disadvantaged if you go there. The problem is are you going to learn what you are supposed well enough at the BBC uni and if you feel you will, then I guess thats the right choice. In the end employment is down to personal knowledge abilities and skills - university can only get you to the interview stage from then on you need to show what you learned during the course. Hope that helps.

Absolutely. It is important to keep personal affairs private in this day and age. We are not entirely anonymous on this site - we are not aware of information this site may be providing to institutions or elsewhere (and naturally universities watch these forums).

It depends. I think you're getting mixed up. AAB is what I would expect for an MEng and BBC is what I would expect for a BEng. University is so much more than a course. If you don't want to go there, it is not going to matter how good the course is reputation wise, you're not going to do as well and it will show at the end of the course with the amount of work you have put in and the amount of work

You can switch BEng-MEng after years 1 and 2 anyway. it doesnt matter on which one you start as long as you are doing well...
