Its impossible to make a rise from the BSP to the prem in 10 years for me. I'm really struggling to make any headway into the championship. My team reputation is so low that its hard for me to sign good new players. When I finally land a gem they stay for a season and a bit then demand a move to a bigger club
Got a job offer from Cardiff, they finished just outside the playoffs. So tempting.....
Stand by your team! When you finally get to the Prem it will feel so much more awesome.
Hmm... I'm yet to master the skill of winning all my games?
I'll go on a great run, scoring 2 or 3 goals per game and conceding none and then I'll have like 4 games in a row where it ends 0-0 or im winning 1-0 and in the final 5 mins, they score a goal...
Think its lack of motivation of the players? Not sure...

Get into the habit of asking your assistant for a team talk report after each game. That might help shed some light on the issue

Yeh this is a great thing to do, and then when you work out what works you'll be winning games and getting praise from your players for the backroom talks that spurred them on to victory.

I know it may be less known, but saying the same thing all the time really does lose it's meaning with players.
And it's always good to say you have faith in someone if they are playing a bad game at half time say.
Numerous times I have had a player playing a low 5, to be told I have faith in him, to go out and bang out 2-3 goals and end up with a good high 8 to 9 rating.
Some times it's best to say nothing at all to them at h/t, if the players are good enough they'll motivate themselves.
Like ...demons said, don't say the same thing all the time. The game tips proved useful for me, be more expectant at home. If you underestimate your team's chances in a game some times they can prove you wrong, its a fine line though.... Determination is a somewhat underestimated attribute, get a settled, determined squad and it makes team talks easier.

Did not realise you could do this
Well when I first started, I used to let my assistant give all the talks and the morale got very low, so now I always give a talk and try mixing it up a little (but when there are only 5 options, there's only so much you can do!)
Ill give it a shot though, thanks for the help guys!
Also, any ideas how to get the best out of Messi? Got him for 35.5mil which seemed cheap and i've stuck him on the right wing but it's not going brilliantly yet...

Play him upfront? If he's playing upfront give him a free role and lots of creativeness
As for Messi, he's a clever player. Let him do what he wants. Free role, yes, creative freedom at max. Run with ball always, forward runs often, long shots often, through balls often. Never hold up the ball. The only one I'd not put at max is cross the ball. Messi isn't a brilliant crosser, and his preferred moves should have "gets into opposition area". Put crossing as rarely, and Messi will cut into the box (since he's on the right wing he'll be on his favoured left foot when he cuts in) and he'll destroy defences.

Stu Laverty's idea is pretty good. You could try a 4-1-2-2-1, though with all those strikers it'd be difficult to keep morale high. I play him on the right in that formation, you need a very disciplined DM though and very good passers in midfield so as to release the ball to the wingers. He's scored 12 in 28 playing there for me.
How long have you had him? He takes a while to settle and learn the language, so that could be it.
Hurray! More depth to an already complicated and difficult game.
Should be a good addition, but I miss CM 97
Nothing in that screen indicates more depth in the game itself, just more stuff being reported to you automatically which you'd otherwise have had to discover for yourself in previous games. It's a bit like how the coaching star system got nerfed with the 9.3 patch - devs and beta testers have all unanimously said that the coaching system itself wasn't changed, just the way that the info was being presented to you, so the 7* coaches you had in 9.1 or 9.2 were really 4* or 5* coaches all along but you were being told that they were 7*
SI have been trying for years to make scouts more useful because, well, they're not They keep adding stuff that the scouts can report back to you so you'll actually use them

I suppose not, but it does indicate that you may have to put a bit more thought into, say, how you begin a match. For example, in that screenshot you'd be tempted to defend early on and then attack after about 15 minutes.
I agree, it does make the scouts more useful definitely. I wouldn't say they're not useful, but they're a bit crap for lower-league teams. If you're a major European team they can be handy for getting across the globe in ridiculous times (for example, your scout in East Africa can get you a scout report for a player in Scotland in hours)
It's looking alot tidier than the 09 one, better dynamics and physics by the looks of it as well.
Not to mention the crowd which builds on the aesthetics
I have a question and if anyone could answer it that'd be great. I have FM09 installed on the household PC which has packed up. I have all my saved data on a memory stick. If I install FM09 on my laptop and verify it online with the serial number that you need would it still work on my laptop? It's still the same internet connection but i'm still unsure.

Do you mean will your saved game[s] work? I think they will, all you have to do is point FM to where you have them, you should have the option to do so in the 'load game' menu at startup.
I'm just about to start my sixth season at Utd, but Nani wants a new challenge. I'm too good, thats the problem, consecutive trebles have cost me badly! My defense is in need of a minor overhaul, Ferdinand is nearly 35 and Rodwell isn't stepping up, Evra is 32 so I need a left back to provide competition for him and Mattock, and I need competition to push Rafinha to new heights. Any tips are gratefully received.
